The offensive line isn't good. Our RBs are not explosive. Our QB continues to follow up a spectacular play with a bone-head plays.
To be completely honest, I would go with Helms if I were Dabo. He is consistent and may not pose a running threat but he makes good decisions with consistency.
The interior DL hasn't made any noise.
The bright spots are Barnes and Parker - wow, they are amazing.
FSU is going to be a war.

He has looked good in garbage time yes. Who knows what he would do when the game mattered. Cade is our guy tho and rightfully so.

I don’t understand how everyone can be on the Cade train. He hasn’t done not one impressive thing other than run down the people returning his interceptions and fumbles. I’ve seen one deep ball every game. Which means the coaches have no confidence in his down field ability. All he does is short throws. I see now that their was no real advantage with Cade over DJ

ANY drop in play there will be scrutinized, even if it isn’t fully warranted. I hear just as many saying Klubnik ain’t it so I have no idea what you’re alluding to…but people see things through their own blinders…

Come on now. Are you really comparing DJ not being able to hit the side of a barn to Cade? This has nothing to do with race. I would be happy to put together a montage of DJ’s horrific throws over the last couple of years. Note: if DW is sitting in the stable, I am starting him over Cade. Tahj too.

The oline play has not been good. There is pressure on what seems like every pass play even the successful plays.
Hoping for better play out of this group next week.

I know pbt, you'll get crucified for posts like this. But it's going to be a lot like last year. I can see now why we're calling the plays we have been through 3 games and not utilizing the middle of the field.
Thank goodness Williams tipped Cades throw and Randall happened to catch it. Against a p5 defense, that isn't a tip, it's a int.
Thanks for the pi to the one to Cole too. Bad throw. But then a beautiful throw and catch on the first TD to brown.
And you're right, thought I oline may have made progress this year but it hasn't.

That pass is going straight to Randall if Williams doesn’t tip it. Williams got too deep on his route and bled into Randall’s route. If anything, if Williams didn’t tip it, Randall probably gains another 5-10 yards.

I think it looks that way from one of the angles they showed on replay but the way I viewed it originally, Williams was too deep on his route and ran right into Randalls. If Williams doesn’t tip it, Randall is catching it in stride.

can't get 1 yard of a push on two plays against FA.
We keep recruiting at a high level on OL but see no results. Either we are 1. Not evaluating OL well enough or 2. Not developing the OL.
Both are coaching.

Its been several different OL coaches and this OL issue has been at Clemson since the Tommy Bowden era. One common denominator is actually the S&C program. I will due on that hill, S&C at Clemson is behind the other big boys in football.

and the OL was being made fun of in it about being soft with the weight training. This mental note I can't forget. I remember Linthicum being in the video was a freshman looking like a dough boy holding his helmet and thinking, oh no.
This is a tuffiness issue with the OL. I think we need a new coach.

The ball would have hit Randall in stride if it weren’t for Williams hitting it. He was throwing to #8 on that play, not #0.

I respectfully disagree and think if you rewatch the game tomorrow you will see things a bit differently. The OL play was not as bad as youre thinking, some rbs missed holes and cutbacks. Cade looked really good in the 1st and in the second he had to bad plays(near ints) one of which the defender grabbed mafah and thats how he gained position. Wrs looked confused several times almost like they didnt know the play. Helms cant get the ball to the target as fast as Cade or bring the wheels, so i dont see how he gives Clemson a better shot, Cade is the only viable QB for this year.

I often have a different opinion after re-watching the game.
I will look at RB running but I am not impressed with our RB group to be honest. Ship is solid but not a game breaker.
I have watched both Helms and Cade since the spring game. I mentioned in a post after the spring game that I thought Helms was the better QB.
I still think Helms is better, just my opinion. I am no coach.

To your point if the OL is BAD you only make that issue worse with a statue QB that cant rifle the ball into tight windows quickly. Helms has it above the shoulders but from what ive seen he lacks zip and cant extend plays. Thats a no no in an offense that needs the QB to force defenses to account for him.

Yeah, I don't think we switch qbs, but we'll know more after we play some p5 competition. I'm no coach, will re-watch, wish I had press box angle but this offense is clunky.
Like last year, D can give us a chance, as well as a 2 back, 2 te set and run plays. Lesser teams we'll win with the screens, qb runs, rpo etc but against any real good team, O will get shut down.
Hopefully brown gets more start time and at least give us a punchers chance of taking the top off. Briny hasn't shown me anything yet from what I expect from a te.

Yeah...at the end of the day we are not great at QB...and not good enough in all other areas to make up for it...we can beat anyone on any given day but we are above average to good on all otjwr days!!! It is what it is!!!
