Player Profile:
Brian Dawkins: Clemson’s first NFL Hall of Famer (with hopefully many more to come)!
(Sorry this post is so long – but the man has a LOT worth mentioning!)

From ClemsonTigers.com:

Brian Dawkins had an All-America career at Clemson between 1992-95, but he was even better at the next level. Dawkins played 16 years in the NFL and was named to the Pro Bowl nine times, more than any other former Clemson player. As a result, he became the first former Tiger to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018.

Over his NFL career with the Eagles and Broncos, Dawkins played 224 games, 221 as a starter. He had 1,147 tackles, 59 tackles for loss, 26 sacks and 37 interceptions. He was named to the NFL All-Decade Team of the 2000s and was a five-time first-team All-Pro.

At Clemson, Dawkins led the ACC in interceptions in 1995 with six and was named second-team All-American. He was a three-time All-ACC player and had 247 tackles and 11 interceptions in his career.

The Clemson football program gives the Brian Dawkins Lifetime Achievement Award each year in his honor.

In the NFL (From ProFootballHOF.com):

After 13 seasons with the Eagles and five team Defensive MVP Awards, Dawkins was signed by Denver as an unrestricted free agent shortly after the conclusion of the 2008 season. Dawkins still holds several Eagles team records, including being tied for the most career interceptions (34).

His success continued in Denver. Dawkins posted remarkable stats on the field and he also received the Denver Broncos Ed Block Courage Award in 2009.

In all, Dawkins played 224 career games with the Eagles (1996-2008) and the Broncos (2009-2011). He amassed a total of 1,131 tackles (895 solo), intercepted 37 passes which he returned for 513 yards and two touchdowns, recorded 26 sacks, and made 19 fumble recoveries.

A nine-time Pro Bowler, Dawkins was named All-Pro and All-NFC five times. In addition to being named to the NFL’s All-Decade Team of the 2000s, Dawkins is a member of the Eagles 75th Anniversary Team and the Exclusive NFL Defensive Club (players with at least 35 career interceptions and 20 career sacks).

Note: Dawkins’ NFL stats are at the bottom of the page:

Additionally, from NFL.com:
Mind-Boggling Stats: Brian Dawkins
Former All-Pro safety Brian Dawkins' exceptional career spanned across 16 seasons and two NFL teams.
The Clemson alumnus racked up an array of awards and records, including becoming the first player in NFL history to record a sack, an interception, a fumble recovery and a touchdown reception in a single game.

NFL.com gives some additional “mind-boggling” stats on Dawkins. If interested in more on Dawkins, these are very cool insights about a great representative of Clemson:

progeny of Nero could tell you, known as the Year of the Consulship of Gratus and Vitellius.

221 years ago, in 1803, a whole lot of interesting stuff happened.

January 4 – William Symington demonstrates his Charlotte Dundas, the "first practical steamboat", in Scotland.

January 30 – Monroe and Livingston sail for Paris to discuss, and possibly buy, New Orleans; they end up completing the Louisiana Purchase. Can you imagine how that deal went?

Jefferson and Monroe: "We want to buy New Orleans!"
Napolean: "OK, but only if you take all the rest of this undeveloped Indian territory off our hands as well, $15,000,000 for the whole shebang."
Jefferson and Monroe: "Er, OK?"

And just like that, the size of the United States pretty much doubled.

May 18 – The Napoleonic Wars begin, when the United Kingdom declares war on France after France refuses to withdraw from Dutch territory.

June 7 – Indiana Territory governor (and future U.S. president) William Henry Harrison signs treaties at Fort Wayne, with representatives of the Delaware, Shawnee, Potawatomi, Miami, Kickapoo, Eel River, Wea, Piankeshaw and Kaskaskia Indian tribes. The U.S. Senate ratifies the treaties on November 25.

August 31 – The Lewis and Clark Expedition begins as Lewis and a crew of 11 depart on the Ohio River.

October 20 – The Senate ratifies the Louisiana Purchase Treaty, officially doubling the size of the United States.
