I like Journey

Feb 12, 2023, 10:30 PM

but there is only 1 band member from the 80s still with them. It's not even the same band anymore.

Who we gonna try next, the Beatles?

I'd rather watch and listen to a Journey tribute band than a halftime show with the theme: 200-People-In-Painters-Coveralls-Humping-The-Air-For-20-Minutes.

Hate that is what you saw.

were associated with that production… 🤔

There are actually two original members left. Neal Schon is obviously still there and still great. Jonathan Cain is an original member, he's the keyboardist on Don't Stop Believing, and still plays with them.

But I didn't realize Steve Smith and Ross Valory both left the group in 2020. That's a bummer. That said, their replacements are excellent. Arnel Pineda is the best Steve Perry replacement anyone could ask for.

the 70 year old rockers either! There are plenty of great, newer artists, as young or younger than Rihanna, that are more talented...Marcus King, Kingfish Ingram, Billy Strings, Gary Clark, Jr, Molly Tuttle, just to name a few. A little bit older are Joe Bonamassa and the Avett Brothers.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Eric Clapton is still alive and performing.....

Feb 12, 2023, 10:31 PM

why not him?

Feb 13, 2023, 12:36 AM

the 2024 halftime snoozefest. sorry but the music you clearly like is boring, and would make for hands down the worst halftime show ever. remember the rolling stones barely being able to make it through one song without collapsing? I respect the OG's, but their shows are boring.

Feb 15, 2023, 12:42 PM [ in reply to Not impressed with Rihanna, but they don't have to go with ]

The Super Bowl is maybe the biggest concert of the year in the US. They've always had either the most popular pop stars or a music GOAT perform. The whole point is to attract viewers who have no interest in football. I know the Avett Brothers and am aware that Joe Bonamassa existed when he was a kid. But who the hell are those people? Literally no one would tune in to see any of them. Looks like Tuttle is a banjo player? Really? You guys remember Prince playing Purple Rain in a downpour? Well how about this bald chick pick a banjo?

Saw Journey and TOTO in Columbia Friday night. Great show!!

1

But Journey has a ton of great songs. Obviously they don't want any good bands doing the Superbowl anymore. I would love to see Journey or Styx. Or maybe Def Leppard. What a show that would be.

Feb 12, 2023, 10:47 PM

Frank Zappa once declared that Philosophy of the World, a discordant, little-heard rock record from 1969 by four unknown sisters who called themselves the Shaggs, was “better than the Beatles.”

Kurt Cobain counted it among his all-time favorite albums.Sep 30, 2016

Since we are just listing people and bands we would like to see. I'd personally like to see Lorna Shore as the halftime show. That'd be epic and unforgettable.

Feb 13, 2023, 12:39 AM

lmao, can't believe a fellow Tnetter knows who lorna shore is. Im not a huge fan, but I listen to similar (less heavy) metal bands lol. I mean it would never happen, but why not a big hard rock/metal band? give me some explosions and pyro!

Re: THIS!!!!!!

Feb 13, 2023, 1:12 AM

I've always been here but don't talk about it because I know the majority doesn't care on here. And oh trust me if they played, it'd be absolute carnage all over the internet and news outlets. If Sam Smith got the "satanic" publicity with Unholy at the Grammies, I wouldn't want to know the absolute mayhem Lorna Shore would bring. But I can dream.

But if you're listening to not as heavy music, Sleep Token has really blown up lately which nice to finally see since I've been following them the last half decade. They'd be a great halftime show honestly.

Springsteen has already done the halftime show once, but he can still put on a high energy show. My favorite three were Bruce Springsteen, U2 and Prince.

I actually saw Journey and Toto in the Greensboro Coliseum on Saturday night. The place was totally sold out so someone must like them. And personally, I like their music a lot better than what was at the Super Bowl. I certainly don't like the crotch grabbing she was doing. I don't know why they think that is cool.
