At 5 I tell Cade DO NOT pull the ball. Give it to Shipley 4 straight plays. Then crank up the band. Just sayin. Just like when we got too cute in SC game last year, such common sense.

Helmet on ball hit almost always leads to fumble. The near mortal stab was the long fumble recovery. Most goal line situation fumbles are not of the scoop and run 60 yards variety.

I doubt Duke would have driven the length of the field and scored a TD on us. We get the ball back with a one score game in time for a ball control drive (mixed run + pass … heavy on the run) with 3 time outs remaining. Given that we had already driven deep into the red zone on 3 other occasions during 2nd half, it isn’t unreasonable that we would have done that again.

The game was that close … except for the long fumble return that demoralized the defense.
