Coach Riley said this in February:
“There’s just no question the amount of consistency that’s been here that coach Swinney’s developed and built. Kind of in totality of where they’re at as a program, where it can still go, and then just being able to experience this deal with him and see how he operates and just how this whole organization and the program and the town and the community, just the whole package. Just really made sense,” Riley said. “That’s what was important to me, was important to our family, that we were going to come into a situation that was like this with as stable as it is and consistent as it has been on and off the field. That’s certainly a draw to players and certainly a big draw to coaches, as well.”
I wonder if he still believes this. I also wonder how long he will stick around and risk damaging his brand with inferior position coaches. I suspect those in the coaching world know what is going on and would not blame him for leaving.

It probably all comes down to who would be willing to hire him right now. I think his options might somewhat limited at the moment.

You might be correct, but I wonder how many head coaches out there realize that he may be coaching at Clemson with at least one hand tied behind his back and has a head coach who appears to take the play sheet out of his OC’s hands at critical junctures in the game and calls bone head plays.

Over a lost game? Are you kidding me or yourself with such a comment as this? It’s not one lost game, it’s not even 2. It isn’t even that we lost our bowl game and to USuck last year. It’s not that this coach called out 1.5% of the fan base that was until last night most likely 40%, or the 2016 team. It’s not that he openly rebels against any calls to use the portal as if he thinks it’s satans tool brought on to destroy humanity. It’s all of these things and more combined.
