I’m doing some bush trimming today at the house.

Usually I like to just maintain an attractive, voluminous shape - not too wild, not too manicured. I’m considering getting more aggressive today to better expose the central trunk because my wife thinks it will be a bit more eye-catching.

Any Tnet member tips I should grasp before I get dirty today?

TIAing all of ewe in advanced.

UPDATE: The temperature unexpectedly dropped considerably yesterday morning when I started all the bush trimming, for which I was truly thankful. I avoided nicking any critical limbs or berries, and the overall result does present a much more manicured presentation of the trunk. Thanks for sharing your tips, Tnetters.

I'm guessing your wife enjoys the feel of a big deck?

She may prefer, but may have to settle for a small patio. But I’m sure she is perfectly happy with a small patio. She probably has even stated she likes the smaller space because it is easier to deal with day to day. And as a bonus it is a much more intimate setting. No, she doesn’t want the big deck like the ones that Sheila and Karen each have - no, she is just fine with the the cute little patio. Regardless, a tight trimming around the patio makes it look a little bigger.

Ok, maybe I’m projecting a bit.

If the central trunk is so small that it's hard to see, your wife might be better satisfied by just going out and grabbing a new one. At least you won't have to do any of the trimming work this way.

Your tip may be small,

but I think it’s worth holding on to.

Thanks for sharing it with so many of these fine gentlemen on Tnet this mowerning.

Do your bushes look like these?

If so might need a tall ladder.

I don’t see much of a central trunk at all in your bush growth - maybe receiving a few tips from these other poasters could help yours stand out a little if you embrace them?

Surely the mods are ok with men respectfully soliciting each other’s tips in an effort to maximize the presentation of their bushes?

One conspicuous vein that has yet been ignored in this thread is the fact that UGA has been fascinated with bush trimming for decades. Their efforts to accentuate the periphery of central structures approaches pathologic obsession in my opinion. If central structures are obviously designed to be the focus, then why do Athenians have such a burning need for all the neurotic bush handling down there? It’s not a normal preoccupation, and it’s downright uncomfortable to even talk about.
