(above ny head legalities), but someone in the thread questioned the 2/3 vote as if it wasn't legit. Wouldn't the ACC have minutes of the meeting wherein the vote took place?

I went to the site and read the summary. I’m not an attorney and while I hope they are successful one thing keeps going through my mind- FSU, Clemson, and all the other schools freely signed the GOR. I remember thinking at the time that 25 years (or whatever it was) is a looong time in the rapidly changing world of big time college football. Money-wise it wasn’t a bad deal at the time but it looks terrible now. I hope the ACC schools with national aspirations didn’t ruin themselves by ratifying that suicidal document.

I'm no attorney, either. But, here are the arguments....

....from both sides, put as simply as possible. I'm sure the actual legal situation is far more complex than this, but here is the "Lawsuit for Dummies" version.

ACC - You signed the contract. Live with it. Case closed.

FSU -
1. We signed the extension in 2016 under false precepts. We were given false information. If we had been given accurate information we would not have signed it. Extension is invalid.
2. In 2021 the commissioner of the ACC, without the input or approval of the universities, signed an agreement potentially extending the GOR to 2036. He did not have the authority to do that. Extension is invalid.

Now, let discovery begin. Or let negotiations begin so that an agreement can be made without discovery.

Since the docs are written by lawyers there is a lot to decipher but thanks for the explanation bretfsu. I wonder why FSU did not get the others who are the “magnificent seven” such as Clemson and Miami to name 2 to join in the lawsuit.

May be as simple as if there’s doesn’t work we try. You get more shots at it if you don’t join together.

I hope you and FSU are right. I also wonder what effect the revelation that ESPN can unilaterally void the contract might have. Also the addition of three new conference members seems like a possible game changer. The next few years will be interesting indeed.

You are certainly not or do you think like one...that judge will likely have to recuse himself or operate on eggshells...FSU signed everything and could barely beat their girlfriend when they signed it (OK you can in Tallahassee) the ACC contracts were OK till ESPN loaded up the SEC & Big# with mo money and bonuses...try to get that to stick in court...also trial may have to be held in Mecklenberg County NC.. Too many variables for all non lawyers and mostlawyers to comprehend!

As a Nole, I like what I read.

But, keeping in mind this is an FSU site I would expect most of the posts to be from a pro-FSU perspective.

Not sure brobible is a reliable source. Jimbo loves them. lol 😂. But if this is true seems like a home cooking win for FSU.
