In old man Hartman's TD scramble

Their WR had our secondary locked up with both hands firmly grabbed onto our guy. The one thing that I can say is that the WR was directly between our guy and the old man. But he also held on a little long.
Was this a clean block? Holding? Or a little bit of both?
Why don't we block like that?

Its hard for me to judge since it's been so long since I've seen a receiver

Block anyone. I'm trying to think back to how Charone Peake and Tee Higgins used to do it.

The narrative should be did their old man outrun our old man? Just the facts not the partial facts.

Those long runs Hartman made padded their total yards rushing stat greatly.

In all three of his scrambles, there was obvious holding on XT on the edge. I’m convinced they rarely call it on OL any more unless you actually tackle them to the ground (see holding call on XT in the 2nd half). XT was also held in the endzone in the 4Q and it wasn’t called.
Thought their WRs did a good job of just pushing our dudes back, but they weren’t quick to let go, that’s for sure.

ACC refs calling holding is largely a thing of the past...

although we did have a couple go our way on Saturday which is the exception rather than the norm.

If he kept his hands inside the frame of the body, it's not holding. If our guy turned to run and the defender still had a hold of his jersey, or if he put his arms outside the shoulders, it's a hold.

Correct. If the WR continues to move his feet, stay square

With the defender and not turn him by holding the jersey, then it’s OK.

They weren't calling any penalties in the game.
It was a hold in any normal game.
