I can absolutely see that (no faith in the playcall. ..or the OL push).
1st and goal: Shipley up the middle. 2nd and goal: Shipley up the middle... 3rd and goal: Shipley up the middle.... 4th and goal: SHipley up the middle...(AGAIN? This crap??? Screw it, I've got to make a play..)
Go Tigers!!!

deadsolidperfect® you have a lot of time on your hands. It seems like we have had two QBS in a row that seem to lack knowing what the right thing to do is. Instinct or bad coaching?

in this case is one.
Listening to Dabo and GR, they seem to have a good feel for the situation and are being patient with Cade. His good is really smooth.
And not to be dismissive, but time is relative. For the most, I forget only what I decide to and bookmark things and thinks, making them easy to access.
I build extensive files for each season, I try to stay in perpetual motion when it comes to things that intrigue me and even things that don't. That lust for learning is one of my favorite drugs.
Happy Friday, Clemsonohiotiger®. Enjoy.

You seem to frequent these spots with the opinions you share here on the Tnets, perhaps you should just stay in the other weird corner you hang out?

The funny thing about that play is that it did look like Shipley would have scored had Cade handed it off. The right side of the line had enough space.
With that said, Dabo does need to get over the conservative play calling. It worked when we were so much more talented than everyone we played. Even though we are still talented per recruiting rankings we have certainly slipped significantly in that category Let Riley call 99% of the game and only weigh in on critical plays like most head coaches do.

Anyone can spin this anyway that they feel they need to...The point is, it wasnt Cade's job to make that call..This isnt Texas High School football anymore!! You cant outrun everyone at this level and that is the first fckn thing you would have expected him to know making that leap and considering his experience. The lack of respect for the coaches and the opponent is utterly offensive...He changed the play as it happened...Talk about losing the faith of your OL and skill players...His behind needs to be on the bench for that.

Why did the coaches not roast him against Wake - he referred to that play on 1st and goal where he pulled it from Shipley and scored from 7 yards out. I didn’t read a single thing from Dabo about that not being the play they called. Either you correct him there or you are saying it’s OK for him to improvise. Don’t give me 20-20 hindsight coach speak.

I never heard the Coaches comment about the olay against Wake being a straight handoff that Cade chose not to run the play that was called. The Wake play looked like a zone read which Cade would have had the option to pull it. Dabo was not made about a bad read against Miami, he was mad because it was called handoff to the back and Cade decided he was good enough to outrun a 4 star college defensive end who was being blocked directly into the path Cade chose to run by Ennis who was doing his job to seal the backside.

Cade said it was exactly like Wake - called a give and he pulled it because he thought he saw the same thing. That’s my point - nothing but crickets from coaches when it works.

I'm not giving you hind sight...I posted the second it happened and after reading Dabo's lips asking why he pulled it. The play wasn't designed for him to pull it and get to the edge..he has no edge containment or outlet to the top for a dump off...he completely underestimated the speed of the opponent...period...like gentleman above me mentioned...Ennis had that edge seal to prevent any backside pursuit of the RB going to the right edge...Cade's decision led him right into the teeth of that left edge defender. It was a boneheaded and selfish decision to make and he knows that.

Watching the replay on this and previous posts of the play, there was NO HOLE up the middle on the left hand side of the line where the Tigers call 90% of run plays. The play was doomed from the start. OL play & talent is non-existent. 31 runs. 37 yards. Says it all.

I don't know about that. It looks like Shipley could have punched it in on the right side of the line. There would have been contact but I think he gets in with his momentum. Definitely not a given and I think a few of Miami's defender probably would have been a little closer had they not spied Cade pulling it.But IMO he had a good chance to barely get it over the plane.

Ah, thats a little too hot I think….CL made some good plays and some good throws, Brinny had him a game with CK. A little cooler take is he lost some faith in the A and B gaps and the push, and Ship getting 1.5 per isnt helping. I think he was being honest saying He was just trying to make something happen
