I've always wondered if telling the player 'you really aren't ever going to see playing time' or just 'supporting' them no matter what (keeping on scholly) is the better way to go. I can argue each side.... the sec way is to be brutally honest and then rely on 'new' talent to come in each year. what I don't know is if the player is told his scholly is going to be yanked for the next year.

Honesty is the best policy. I had to tell many employees they were probably not going to make it. Every single one landed a better opportunity at another company. Always best to tell them rather then make them wonder.

Kidding aside, if they guy started an entire year for Bama, and we have need for a center, which we do, he is probably worth a hard look.

Folks yak about the portal being the solution to everything, but I would wager most if not all of these guys read the tea leaves and know they are never going to play much if ever at 'Bama. SO they might help another not so good school build their program but they are probably not going to help anyone get to a championship and that is the truth about 95% of portal players. If a truly competitive program picks one of them up it is more likely to build depth and not get game changing starters.

Playoff teams get an extra 5days after the players declare for transfer over non-playoff teams. After the loss, those that were now transferring gave staff the ok to enter.
