He’s always had this watch his HS tape and there’s a reason they called him baby Julio his first spring. The kid had one of the worst injuries an explosive playmaker can have with his ACL then literally played with broken hands.

Wow. I didn't know about the hand. Thanks for sharing. I was optimistic about Randal after the bowl game, but I never realized he had that type of upside.

All this jumping around at practice like little 6 year old girls at a birthday party rubs me the wrong way. Can you imagine what Frank Howard would have said back in the day if our players jumped around and yelled over a pass play at practice. He would have sent everyone in for a shower and quit practice and started again tomorrow at 6 a.m. at dawn patrol to squelch the fake enthusiasm. I can imagine what Old Frank would have said about the "Fake enthusiastic" jumping up and down before kickoffs. He woulda dog cussed those boys and encouraged them to transfer SC or introduced them to the stadium steps at 6 a.m. daily until that fake excitement was curbed and/or channeled onto the field. The Old Coach recognized the difference between real enthusiasm earned and enjoyed and all this fake stuff the players do today trying to gin up emotions that are not there.Coach Howard surely has his own place in the corner of heaven somewhere and continually you can hear him off in the distance yelling: "Get off my lawn, Buddy. You killing my grass."

But it looks to me that Randall slowed down and made the catch harder than it had to be. The pass was good but if he didn't slow down, it would have been a regular over-the-shoulder TD catch

It was only a great ball because he caught it

I'm a much bigger fan of a ball put out in front of the receiver that he can catch on the run, rather than one he has to stop, use the off arm to create space from the defender, then high point the ball.
Catching that ball relies on several factors: * actually securing it, something our WRs have failed to do consistently for 2-3 seasons * not getting called for offensive PI (no, I don't think that one was, but in game, can we ever expect to get the benefit of the doubt from the refs?) * the defender never turning around. This ball could have easily been knocked down by a skilled CB.
Lastly, had this not been a corner route, and just a 30-yard pass downfield, balls like this, if caught, get you just 30 yards instead of putting the receiver in a position to turn it into a 60 or 70 yard TD.

Your points are valid if the play was on your own 30 yard line, but the ball was thrown into the end zone for what amounted to a long fade for a TD. What more can you ask?
Continuing to run 30-40 yards past the end zone might be good exercise running the bleachers, but it wouldn't count as more than 6 points.
I hope we can do that multiple times in every game this year and every year in the future....

My point is valid because there were many times we needed yards after the catch and couldn't get any because our guys had to come back for the ball, go airborne, etc. Beautiful throws and catches that give receivers opportunities to keep running after the catch have been rare since Trevor left. DJ threw a few. I don't remember any from Cade, maybe a couple.
