Article about NIL collective

Nov 3, 2023, 9:12 PM

So I just read on another Clemson site that if fans and donors don't pony up more cash then Clemson football is going to fall behind everyone else. I get it I really do, but I'm not ok with it. As fans we are paying a wad for tickets already. I'm really struggling to embrace this new Era of college football. I was a fan that went, traveled, and supported anyway that I could. Stopped getting tickets last season and don't even watch as a fanatic like I used to. I even take trips during football season (never was allowed before!). If it's about buying players now, then good luck. I'll be the casual fan and buy a hoodie from time to time. I believe NIL is going to kill this game.

Iptay and NIL needs to be under the same leadership

2

Nov 3, 2023, 9:27 PM

Right now they are competing for the same dollars

Need coordinated leadership that communicates the fundraising priorities to donors that optimize the dollars

I agree with you.

Also right now the majority of our NIL is being used to retain players. That’s part of the reason we don’t lose starters to the portal like other schools.

NIL collective has nothing to do with IPTAY

2

Nov 3, 2023, 9:32 PM

NIL collective is just about creating NIL opportunities for Clemson athletes. IPTAY only pays out athletic scholarships. The two are not related.

If I’m wrong then provide a link proving they go hand in hand.

It has ruined the spirit of college football. I don't have the same passion, since the NIL and port hole BS gained steam. Just adding more rich, entitled athletes to the population.

Not that I'm cynical

Its not true. Just an excuse for the pumpers to use to justify our decline.***

It’s absolutely 100% true troll.

We’re at a disadvantage against Big10/SEC schools due to conference payouts. What we need to do is stop handing out so much money to other sports programs benefiting from football success. Yet another investment in basketball, this time to the tune of 40mil is unnecessary. Not going to get a return on investment with Brad here.

You see troll those other schools funnel booster $ to NIL, because of their large conference payouts. Clemson had been using IPTAY to help close the gap with those other schools. Our AD doesn’t print money like the government.

The best bet for people like you is to pull for football instead of against it if you want to keep sucking on footballs teet.

Welcome to 2021. This is why Oklahoma, Miami, Florida State, and USC are back. Because they can afford to pay players. Dabo is going to quite because of NIL and all the crap he takes online.

It's a very bad look for Dabo to make a tenth of a billion dollars yet get whiny over players making a tiny fraction of that.

If you want Clemson to win, stop donating to IPTAY and start donating to the NIL collective. It's that simple.

So, stop funding scholarships for all sports so you can pay some football players to play?

Yeah. Great idea. 🤡

Re: Article about NIL collective

There are two things going on. One, the current players are poorly coached. Two, Clemson will not cheat with NIL and does not have the legal money to compete. IPTAY admin is an inflated cash cow and needs to be restructured so some of the donors can redirect some legal money to an NIL collective.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Nope! I will not participate in that. Sorry!***

Same here..But two years ahead of you. I quit caring about the NFL awhile ago and now this is what college football has become

Exactly.

I think I’m only still hanging on because we have the one coach (or one of a few) who loves college football and is standing his ground.

A couple more seasons will tell us whether that’s going to work or not. I’m not letting the current subpar season define it.

I don’t know if college football will eventually die or not. It might. But it certainly won’t be recognizable if this crap continues.
It will be minor league NFL on Saturday with each “team” just having some affiliation with a college.
Who knows, maybe enough people will love it.
Not me.

Fans need to give up more hard earned cash to pay spoiled 18 year olds to play a game? Nah, I’m good.

Exactly..These days I'm more worried about why I'm having to spend 80% of my awake time at a job doing something I hate just to barley get paid enough to even survive instead of worried about 18 year old millionaires

I wonder if athletics has undergone what most of us have in the last four years. Budget. What are we spending? What do we need? Where can we save money? Aldi vs Publix. Youtube vs Spectrum. Different insurance.

There are a lot of staff in IPTAY and athletics. Essential or a copy of what football is doing? Does football really need $ for NIL? Easily could carve 2 million from its budget and put 2 million allotment back in IPTAY.

We have a great athletics program with one revenue producer. All other sports are important, but there is good bit of excess that could be addressed.

Neff is smart guy. We will see how he does with making athletics more fiscally responsible.
