It’s chaos because ESPN and all the talking heads will explode if the SEC is left out. Which is exactly what should happen.

Heads are going to explode somewhere, and it is basically, the committee's fault. Their reasoning is not only a moving target, but one that is supposed to be hit blindfolded. Somebody is going to have to clarify the standards I am supposed to use before I can even decide who should be in.

Bama and FSU were 2 of the 4 dominoes that needed to fall for pure chaos. They are just selling views and clicks at this point. However, had Oregon and Iowa done their parts, absolute chaos would have been up. If those 2 things had happened, it wouldn't have mattered what happened in the ACCCG. FSU would have been win and in and would have been out if they lost. There wouldn't have been any debate for them.
How would this one loss log jam have been sorted?
Washington
Oregon
Michigan
Ohio State
UGA
Bama
Texas
If it were me, that's a scenario the SEC would get 2 in. Bama, UGA, Oregon and Texas as a conf champ instead of Michigan or Ohio State. 3 conf champs and the best remaining 1 loss team, UGA.
It's a mild dose of chaos compared to the Jim Ross level of carnage that could have been.

UGA was expected to win. They lost.
The chaos is 3x undefeated conf champs, leaving 2 1-loss conf champs. And one of those two beat the other. It’s a very easy selection process…
…until you mention which conference the 5th place team would be.

Best now, best over the course of the year, best going by the eye test or best according to the resume. Best is not a simple concept, especially when you factor in a media that often tends to have certain biases.

The media shouldn't be factored in, they are just talking heads. Games matter, they have to otherwise why bother playing them at all? Just count the # of 5*s on teams and award the Natty to the team with the best roster.
The funny thing is, every year massive drama is predicted, but overall the committee selects the right teams. The year Alabama didn't play in the SEC Championship but still got it, they were the consensus #1 all year long and there was no undefeated conference champs. The BIG had a 2 loss champ that Bama was put in over. Never has there been a P5 undefeated conference champ left out, and it won't happen this year either, despite what all of the parrots on ESecPN think or want. Bama can argue all they want that they are one of the top 4, it's what a coach is expected to do for his team. Ga's coach is doing the same thing with the 29 game win streak narrative.
Bottom line, 3 undefeated P5 champs are in, and the 1 loss champ that beat the other 1 loss champ head to head by double digits in THEIR house will get in. Anything else is just conspiracy theorist talking, believing the media controls the committee.
