I think Jones is a good QB. I think it may even push Trevor a bit knowing he has some life behind him.

Got a buddy in Jacksonville that is diehard fan and loves TL. He said the talk down there is to put a little more pressure on TL, not enough that its a true competition, but enough top know someone else can step in if he messes up etc…. Should be interesting and comp makes players better…. Even if its just slight pressure

It's a smart move for a few reasons but getting a functional backup QB on the cheap is good news for the Jags. Hopefully they shore up the D and also the OL in this offseason.

He’s in his 4th this year. They will execute the 5th year to keep him under contract in 2025. Then he’ll be a free agent in 2026.

Jacksonville was the only team interested in Mac Jones. He will be a backup. They needed a better one last season with Trevor suffering more than one injury.

Good move for Jags and Mac

Mac started out well in his first year under Josh McDaniels. Then New England went all New England. Peterson is a QB coach at heart and this can only be good for Mac to sit back and reset and learn.
Trevor gets banged up a lot and last year he played through the injuries leading to crapier performances as the season progressed. With Mac, the Jags may be more willing to let TL sit and heal. If Mac does get to play a bit then serves as a great audition for a team in need.
Plus Mac is back home. He went to Jacksonville Bolles and is from NE Florida so that is a nice consolation as well.
