Jeff Scott

I saw a few posts and tweets about Jeff Scott coming to Clemson this weekend. I texted Coach Scott and he said that was incorrect, that he is staying at home with his family right now and enjoying time with each other. He said he had no idea who started that.

I don't see how anyone thinks Streeter gets fired this year.

It's obviously a ridiculous notion.
People have this cognitive dissonance when it comes to factoring in that Dabo is involved in playcalls. The running of the offense isn't the same as back in Chad Morris days when it was more centralized. Seems to me that Dabo is like the CEO of the playcalls, Streeter is like the CTO and they get input from Richardson et al.
Watch footage of Dabo between offensive plays during every big game over the last 3 years. He has a massive playsheet. He is making decisions and barking orders. Frequently.
Beyond that, we have one loss. We are 8-1 and could very easily end up 11-1. And DJ, again, appears to be limiting what coaches are comfortable calling. (Which is extremely frustrating but it's clearly a thing.)
None of us know if Streeter is screwing up. DJ looked like a miracle turnaround story until 3 weeks ago. We don't even know how much of the playcalling is on him. We know he wanted to emphasize speed between snaps more than the previous playcalling regime. Would Streeter do things differently if Dabo backed off? We don't know. Either way it's not a recipe for him being fired. Not even close.
There were many TERRIBLE playcalls in the Notre Dame game. And we are EXTREMELY ineffective/predictable on 2nd down this year. But we are 8-1. We are #10 in the country out of like 130 teams. We are nowhere NEAR firing Streeter.
So what is the energy behind Jeff Scott's whereabouts? You think he might come on as an analyst? I doubt Scott would come back on as a WR coach/co-offensive coordinator. (I would love that, WR coaching is a failure, obviously) Yes, Scott failed miserably at USF and wont get another HC gig, but he can land somewhere better than WR coach. Right?

With what he made at USF, he's not likely to ever have to work another day in his life if he doesn't want to. His kids are young, and we all know he's a family man.

Bingo on your assessment of Streeter/Dabo w offensive play calling. It's time for the staff to stop protecting DJ when it means running a predictable low percentage offense. If they try to squeak by and barely win each game like the first 2/3rds of the season we will get beat 2+ more times. Let DJ live or die by an aggressive offense and if he doesn't click you have to try Cade.
I think Scott may possibly come in if named co. It's not like we haven't had co's before so it shouldn't offend Streeter. I would be for getting a fresh perspective not tied to our offense of the past 7 years.

I don't think anyone thinks he will get fired.......

EVERYONE sees the bottomline............our offense is ATROCIOUS and has been ATROCIOUS for over a year now. Not only that, up until last year our offense had been in a slow decline (especially vs elite competition) since it was exposed in the 2019 LSU game...........we didn't really "light it up" vs Ohio State the game before either.
EVERYONE also sees the issues and while the percentage blame is up for debate and everyone has gone in circles debating that, but they consist of: WR talent QB talent/performance Playcalling Oline Defensive coaching/coordinator Offensive coaching/coordinator Depth/portal use Dabo's QB decision (ie DJ or Cade??) and the list goes on...........................all of the above are issues along with some that aren't on the list, the weight of each can be debated until we're all blue in the face.
but you mention we're "8-1, could end up 11-1"......very true, but that doesn't mean all's good and changes shouldn't be made.
PRIME EXAMPLE: Back in 2011 we won our first ACC Championship in two decades, we had our FIRST 10 win season in however long it had been....................successful season at the time by most accounts (not mine btw).........guess what????????.............DABO FIRED KEVIN STEELE BECAUSE OUR DEFENSE WAS ATROCIOUS..........Dabo did not (thankfully so) sit back and say, "ya know, we won the ACC and won 10 games....all's good".........HE MADE CHANGES IN WHAT MOST EVERYBODY CALLED A "SUCCESSFUL" SEASON............fast forward to 2022 and we are on a COMPLETELY different level than 2011 (I'd hope you'd agree with that)........just because you or most or some say it's a "successful season" doesn't mean CHANGES CAN'T nor SHOULDN'T be made.
as far as Jeff Scott goes.....I'd love nothing more than for him to come back. Whether that's best for him/his family, who knows?? In what capacity?? debatable. I personally don't think him coming in as OC (should that even be an option) would be good IMO.........his talent/tools could very well be more beneficial elsewhere: recruiting, WR coaching/development, etc.... He could be an overpaid WR coach for all I care because his TALENTS and INFLUENCE go further than what he could bring as an OC or CO-OC.

As I mentioned elsewhere, Dabo is two things:
1. He's fiercely loyal. 2. He's stubborn.
For these two reasons, if no others, Streeter isn't going to be fired anytime soon. I think it's safe to say that Streeter will be here at least 2-3 years, even if our offense doesn't improve much beyond where it is now.

We are a family oriented football program. Everyone knows that Savannah loves our Tigers and they her. Bring the family Jeff! Just kidding. I can understand him wanting to unwind and recharge before taking that next step in his life. Enjoy your family time and fingers crossed you come back home.

Did he deny that he would be watching the game and have direct communication with Streeter regarding play calling?

As the saying goes, you can't go home again. It's better to go out on top than it is to stick around too long. He's a Clemson legend, but what if he came back and it didn't work out?

Smart man, I respect him for staying home to enjoy his family. He has made good money and does not need to rush back into it.

Why would he want David Hood reporting his every move? Give the man some privacy. He just got fired from a job that he loved.

I think it's worth noting that I saw a lexus SUV with florida tags and USF logo on it in Jeff's old neighborhood in Clemson yesterday evening.

Technically, Jeff's position of 50% OC is still available.
