honestly though im sick of hearing these hypotheticals that certain teams are better. i remember all the oregon was going to smash washington talk before the pac 10 title game because oregon was destroying all the weak teams heading into that game. was even favored by as many as 9 points.. people will cite the uga bowl game as proof. but with fsu starters opting out that game will prove nothing

Only impressive game was LSU and they did not end up how they were projected pre season. Clemson should or had them beat minus 2-3 plays, and we were not world beaters this season.

Alabama wouldn’t score more than 17 points on FSU…or Michigan…#### good. Alabama is inconsistent. Best four teams means Ohio State replaces Alabama. Much more consistent play. You underestimate defense.

As Herbie said, totally subjective opinion. All the objective measures say the 2 teams were close. My opinion is SOR is the best metric and it favored FSU.
That said, all of the talking heads said the same thing about us vs Bama 2019. Look who got curb stomped.

So will Bama curb stomp Michigan? Michigan is the same team that FSU is now. A great defense with a putrid offense and a manageable QB. Michigan had less yards in its conference championship game than FSU. They had so much confidence in McCarthy against Penn State that he threw 0 passes in the second half. Of course Michigan does get there coach back after his second suspension for cheating of the year, so there is that.

I'm going to give another opinion on what the best 4 should mean and an analogy to explain it. We should be talking about who was the best 4 over the course of the year, and FSU, I believe fits that bill.
When Washington and Texas play, what happens if Washington is up by 2 TD's and Penix gets hurt at the end of the 3rd quarter. Texas is clearly the better team in the 4th, outscoring Washington 14-3. So Texas will be the one that plays the winner of Alabama and Michigan, even though they lost. Have I got that right?

Their losses are to the AP #4, 5, and 11 team. Should FSU have lost for the quality loss rather than devaluing LSU? FSU beat them by more than Alabama who had them at home. Alabama almost lost to an actually bad Auburn team and struggled mightily with a dreadful South Florida team. And lost a game. Any “eye ball” test that says Alabama is better is built on pure bias. And considering Alabama won a title with a backup quarterback in the CFP era the qb excuse is pure hypocrisy. And I hate FSU and Mike Norvell.

I honestly think no one knows who the best four teams are and that winning is the way your prove your worth. I think FSU has the talent level to compete with any of the 4 taken and that with 5 weeks from selection day until the semi-final they have more than enough time to prep their #2 qb to be the starter and enough time to make a credible backup out of #3. The bowl practice schedule for CFP participant is 1 week less than the NCAA current limit of six weeks for preseason practice. If the “eyeball test” was legit there wouldn’t be sportsbooks.

Based on some of Kirk's comments in the past, I don't really think he cares for FSU that much to begin with. I mean, as soon as the committee put out their top 4, he was right there with a ###### ready to blast FSU and his comments weren't nuanced at all.

Love Herbie but Texas and Bama are not clearly better than FSU with Travis healthy. Without Travis I agree but FSU still earned the right to be in the top 4. Leaving them out is a disgrace to college football imo.

But at the end of the day, without Travis, they are not one of the four best teams. You will see when they play Georgia. Now I will say, having some key players opting out won’t help, but even with those players they would get beat by two touchdowns plus.

There has not been a truer statement posted on here. The committee would have changed their definition of 4 best if Alabama were out of the picture. Of course had Texas lost they would have reverted back to the definition they used and put Georgia and Alabama in.

All the ESPN minions that had a hand in the bias on a supposed neutral network need to be brought in for questions. Maybe the FCC should get involved since it involved the airwaves as well. Kirk certainly does not need to explain his own opinion. Like he said, he is more equipped to give an opinion than any FSU or Bama fan.
Regardless what he thinks, there are multiple things you could point out to an FSU fan that would make them shut up.
For one, would you rather play FSU or Alabama at this very moment (without Jordan Travis)? Case closed.
You did not dominate anybody besides mid tier ACC teams. No you didn’t dominate LSU.
You did not beat #1 Georgia in the conference championship. You did not beat a team that had won 29 in a row. You did not beat a back to back champion. You beat an average Louisville team 16-6. If you want to talk about most deserving, Alabama is more deserving based on their quality of wins. Especially in the conference championship.
Additionally, FSU was certainly not out of the playoff for certain in the scenario of Alabama winning. FSU still could’ve gone and won by 50 and showed that they were capable of beating a playoff team with their 3rd string. But again, they won 16-6.
These and many other points also qualify into the “most deserving” evaluation.
If FSU played Texas, I see FSU losing that as well. It’s hypothetical, but looking at the hardest teams both teams had to play, Alabama had very much more difficult opponents. So you have to consider that hypothetical of FSU vs Texas.
By the way FSU, you were given a prove it game in Miami for the Orange Bowl. Be happy. Just make sure the players have as much fun as possible, because the game won’t be a good time due to Kirby not taking it easy.

You are giving the fleabags too much credit. They played a cupcake schedule and struggled with a few teams, as did Alabama. Neither of them beating each other proves anything. The fleabags were lucky as #### to get by Ohio State last year, or they would only have 1 natty in 2 years and a less impressive record. Oh, wait, you say they won the game that's all that matters??? Is that what I hear? Ohhhhhh, so it does matter if you just win the games...

Kirk is 100% correct.
Like it or not, the committee is asked to deploy a subjective selection process.
In 2023 our process is subjective and not objective.
Since 2012, if a team goes undefeated there has been no guarantee they will be in the final four.
The committee chose Alabama over FSU and they are correct.

Like with the BCS committee, wins and losses don't matter in the lawsuit. Most likely, the AG's objective is to pull back the curtain, and force the committee to produce minutes to their meetings and individual votes by the committee. It will have to be thrown out early to keep that from coming out.
