For the Clemson fans on this app that genuinely think Trent Pearman should start game 1 vs Georgia you’re borderline insane. Tiger net watched 1 spring game and were ready to cut Cade loose and start the guy who’s never played a meaningful snap in his life yet…….. But based off of what I’ve seen I honestly feel like it shouldn’t be close and Pearman definitely should be our 2nd string Vizzina hasn’t made any progress from the looks of it and Pearman goes out there and balls out and is a state champion and player of the year in sc. he can play. If Cade doesn’t perform and Pearman keeps doing what he’s doing I believe you should give him a shot no doubt.

I have not seen any one on tnet say that Pearman should start against UGA. MAYBE, I missed it. I saw a few say if Cade is not doing well, give Pearman a shot.

Saw where someone posted it and people agreed or just saying that pearman should be the starter pretty much based off the spring game.

It's not just what we saw from Pearman in the spring game-we have seen an abundance of poor decisions by Cade for a couple of years now and not much better in the spring game.
I am not saying Pearman should be crowned an immediate starter but if we continue to see Cade struggle on a consistent basis,I would not be opposed to giving someone else a try.
I am rooting for Cade-i appreciate him choosing Clemson when he had other options as a recruit.
Let's hope Cade has matured enough to lead us to the promised land!

The QB that should be starting is a QB that’s not even on the roster because we should’ve and now should go hard after the best QB available. It’s best for the team. Win. Period

I agree pearman needs to be 2nd string, vizzina just hasnt shown it, also pearman high school record of 2 time sc player of the year is impressive, i think he may be a gamer, cade will start but if he does not perform well should be pearman..........never again should a DJ situation ever happen again at clemson........dabo wont admit it but that 2 year disaster set the clemson program back alot especially offensively......were just now crawling out of that self inflicted hole, we have really good receivers now and a hot shot OC......lets get it done.

Start GA? No. It would very much surprise me if he started the GA game and it would mean Klubnik plain out stunk during practice in the fall camp. Hopefully Dabo won’t wait to pull the plug if Cade looks exactly like 2023 Cade.

I rewatched the spring game. Cade had 5 bad plays, maybe 6. Honestly there were some positives that people are not acknowledging bc they have written the kid off already.
First the bad:
He has to figure out how to put touch on a ball to get it over low hanging defenders. He had 2 batted.
He needs to be willing to throw the ball away or take his checkdown if the play is broken and he's escaped the pocket. He had a near int into double coverage with no wr in the area as he rolled right on a mesh concept. He also on like his 3rd pass just missed a checkdown to the rb for easy 7 yards.
He got baited by a corner who acted like he was sinking and squated on an out route from the slot wr, another near int.
Now the good:
Biggest thing imo is he gave his wrs a shot on 1v1 coverage and put the ball down the field. 4 plays 20+yds down the field. Wesco got bullied out of position on 2 fades(he's gotta get stronger), Williams had a nice fade and drew a PI and 1st down, and then there was the beauty of a skinny post to Randall for 55 yds(almost all of that was through the air).
He was checking down much more than last year.
Less Happy feet.
Checked into inside zone runs when he saw light boxes.
Was on time with most of the out breaking routes(especially to williams, can tell there's a chemistry there).
The reality is he threw the ball 29 times there was 2 penalties for first downs one face mask where patt Henry could have turned upfield for an easy 10 more yards and a PI drawn bc Williams beat his guy on a fade for positioning and Cade put it where only Williams could get it. There was an additional penalty for holding on a play where Cade hit Randall on a curl on time for 11yards or so. The incompletions were mainly 1v1 giving his guys a shot, one he threw into the dirt on rb screen that the D read, and 4 dropped passes that were very catchable(1 by Wesco on a comeback, 2 by Patt Henry, and 1 on Cades last throw).
Spring game did nothing to unseat Cade as the starter.

Cade has not figured out how to "throw in lanes" yet on a consistent basis. No QB throws over defensive linemen unless it is a very deep ball. Short passes are always thrown in lanes. If a 6'5" defensive lineman is in your face, he extends his hands upward, then jumps as high as he can, he is somewhere around 10 feet in the air. Even TL16 at 6'6" cannot throw short/medium passes over that. You have to throw in the lane between these defenders. Some can do it, some cannot.

That's fair what I saw was mostly LBs and Safeties knocking down balls though. There was 1 DL knock down.
Either way I believe he can improve and will improve in this area.

Either way, our QB situation doesn't get anyone excited. We are no where close to great at the position. This team ain't winning anything significant with this stable of QBS. This defense is elite and will be asked to hold offensive teams to under 14 week in and week out. That is a recipe for disappointment. 9-3 or 8-4. My big concern isn't UGA it's week 2 against App State. If we are not careful we will be 0-2 out of the gate and tbe implosion will be in full force.
