NFL Draft Buzz has Shipley at a 4.42/40. I just don't see it

Shipley seems more quick than fast. I don't see 4.42/40 anywhere on tape. Keep in mind that ETN ran 4.4 at his Pro day. Ship's tape screams 4.6/4.7. Maybe he trains for the Combine and can get it down to the high 4.5s, but everyone knows that he has no breakaway speed at all.
What do you think he runs at the combine?

That would mean he’s quick up to 10 to 15 yards. The 40 equates to break away speed.

Part of a good 40 time is being quick up to speed, which he can do. He'll specifically train for that also in the next month so might be pretty close.

He’s fast. He just never had sizable holes and always seemed to get clipped going through the gaps. Also, not sure he was ever 100 pct healthy. Combine is a race with no pads. Ship is fast

Phil had 4 or 5 runs of 40+ yds this year. Not buying that there weren't sizable holes.

4.5-4.6 range IMO. I've seen enough of him to know he doesn't have 4.4 speed. Not real laser timed 4.4 speed like the combine uses.

I'd guess his time to be 4.52, nothing sub 4.5, although some of these high$ çombine camps have had some success HYPER focusing on the 40 to the same degree as world class sprinters do when preparing for the Olympic 100m event(every step accounted for, posture, form, reaction time, etc.) But the only way I see him clocking a 4.42 or better is at his Pro day—where nobody runs ABOVE a 4.55–

Have ALOT more scores. And at least 10 TDs over 40 yds or so.

He had verified 4.4 speed coming out of high school. I would wager he's at a high 4.4 to low 4.5 range.

Ship couldn't even secure the clear starting job on the number 50th offense in the country.
If is gets drafted in the 3rd round, I'd be more than shocked. Personally, I think he might sign a FA contract, if not a really late, late-round pick.

are still selected before round 3 when the empirical data clearly shows in today's game: ¹RB production has no net effect on W & L s,
² requizet RB talent is abundant on day 3 of the draft and beyond(undrafted free agents)–

Gallman 4.60
Ellington 4.61 (but I think he had hammy in combine)
ETN 4.45s
James Davis 4.55
Spiller 4.37
Shipley is going to be in high 5's or low 6's. Ellington could house it, ETN obviously could take it to the house. Shipley was caught from behind almost everytime he broke out for 30yds+. If he runs under 4.58s, I will be shocked but that will help his draft.
