No Viable Option Behind Klubnik

Oct 23, 2023, 9:07 AM

Part of our current problem is that there is no viable option behind Cade. Very few are ready to be QB1 for a top program as just a redshirt freshman. This goes back to the Bubba Chandler offer cycle. The coaches knew there was a very high chance he would get draft and not even plan a down. If we had recruited and signed a legit QB recruit there would at the very least be competition for Cade or even a viable plan B. At this point, it is Cade or bust for not just this year but most likely next year too.

I am a huge Klubnik fan and think we more reps he can improve immensely but this team some else to push the issue or even allow Cade to sit a play or two when needed.

This is why I can't believe we were unable to recruit a QB this cycle. Every top program brings in a proposed QB1 every year. You have to to allow for misses, transfers and injuries.

I think it is clear that that problem isn't Klubnik. The problem wasn't DJ. The problem wasn't Streeter (Scapegoat). There is certainly a problem much deeper, but not sure what it is. We are not playing with the swagger/confidence that we had 3 years ago. Of course, we had TL and DW before that, but we did not make the bone-headed mistakes (as a team) back then. How many times can you possibly fumble the ball on the opponents 1 yard line in a season. If there is a stat, I bet we broke a record this year. Is the root of the problem our OL - maybe - never seen an OL like this were we can't run the ball in when 1st and goal within the 5 (or within 2 or 1). Pretty bad.

Don't get me started on our interior OL, I definitely agree with you that that is a problem but some of the offensive ineptitude is on Klubnik. Sliding before the first down marker, fumbles, bad reads and over riding the called plays plus other issues.

My point was the lack of a true QB1 recruit in the 2021 class and the lack of competition or even a viable backup QB if performance or injury dictated. We are currently living with that decision and we are about to repeat it in our current 2024 cycle. Find me one top program that hasn't brought in potential QB1 in more than one cycle. Not recognizing the potential consequences is on the coaching staff.

I disagree, I'm not calling for Cade to be replaced because I don't
think it all lies with him but if he were to get hurt ,I believe
Tyler Helms could hold his own.Tyler is a better than average QB.
Also, Bear Bryant's Great-grandson isn't a bad QB if needed.
