I get it.
They smashed FSU.
But, who with any football IQ didn't know that would happen with all the opt-outs FSU has? Who?

I believe with Jordan Travis FSU could beat Georgia. A Mobile QB who makes plays with legs - sounds familiar?

I think it's a good thing we open with Georgia. I hope the players/coaches are as scared as some of you sound on your post about a matchup with them. Going into the offseason having to prepare for what some of you are building up to be an insurmountable mountain "is good motivation"!

I seem to recall; the mighty Bulldogs you all are so scared of having to get "LUCKY" on a pick-six to beat Clemson the last time we played. And we all knew DJU wasn't ready at that point(he struggled against teams not named Georgia - so there's that).

Talent Gap? Recruiting rankings HRT? I know all about that. I monitor who signed where and where we rank in terms of "composite class"! If it was all about the player's rankings we would never have won a National Championship - Ever!
How many composite #1 rankings have we had when we won it all?

Give Georgia their due - any emotional feelings about Georgia's low-key supporters probably haven't made it this far. I know they are the standard in college football now. Kirby to me is doing perhaps(debatably) the best job in college football. They have great players. I get all that too.
Give them their flowers.
But, not going to sit on a Clemson board and make a bunch of posts about how good they are either. Much like in life; you can try to keep up with the Joneses or live your best life. Let's do Clemson and worry about Clemson things! HRT - I'm just going by what I see on the field. Yeah, well if what you project and how things look on paper was the determining factor - "we would not have to play the games would we"?

Let's cross that bridge when we get there and enjoy a well-fought Gator Bowl win to finish the 2023 season. Don't give yourself an aneurysm worrying about another team! Why? For what?

Clemson will be fine and in a 12-team playoff scenario; that confidence is boosted a ton.

Go Tigers! Work during the off-season! Our composite class is very good(around where it's been in past years when we won it all). We are actively looking in the portal. We have new coaches who have seen what they have to work with for next year in a game against a quality opponent. Did you all know Kentucky had their whole team playing? The only question mark was the RB Davis; who ended up playing!

You all saw a bunch of Freshmen pressed into action in the Gator Bowl and then saw FSU get dismantled and are panicking a bit it seems.
Why? It's all about Clemson all the time!

We will be just fine at the end of the day; I have no doubt about that!

1.5%ers still don't get it. After the Tigers have 3 consecutive wins over the SEC, they still won't get it.

Yep, I agree.

You have to believe as step 1. Then you have to work toward making it happen.

Only Alabama and Nick Saban can say they have won at least 9 games in 13 straight years! So, it's not like Clemson and Dabo have forgotten how to win.

As I said before, Kirby has Georgia as the standard right now! No debate. But, Clemson is Clemson and will be just fine. And, probably as a result of our 1st game being against a quality opponent.

***I would hate to be in a fighting position with some of these so-called Tigers fans. They would just "give up and surrender if the odds look bad"! SMH!

I need to tell them the story about the Frozen Reservoir(the frozen chosen) where Marines were outnumbered - yet! Folks give in so easily.

Of course, we do.
Just like Georgia though. Every team needs to get better! I get what you mean - to compete with the teams who are setting the standard in the sport now! Georgia stands alone to me - Until Michigan wins it, I can't put them there. Especially playing in the weak 10. (for those who complain about the ACC do you track the Big 10 at all outside of osu and mich).

I think Cade grew up Friday. For him to finish with 264 yards and make some critical throws at critical times after being sacked 8 times. I think it says a lot about who he is going to be in 2024. Hopefully, Coach Luke can get that OL to where they need to be. He saw Georgia's DL a ton while coaching there and will know in Spring and Fall camp - what it will take.

Get ready for Georgia - because ( giving them their flowers ) they are the standard. Should prepare you for whoever else you have on the schedule by a mile. It's a good thing in my mind that we have "the cfb standard" as our 1st opponent to be concerned with all off-season. A very good thing in fact.

To your point; that should push us to be super focused and ready! I think human nature found it's way in for the "Duke game" and we weren't as focused as we should be. Did we respect Duke enough? I don't know; but I think it's possible. No way you do that with Georgia looming! No way. Which is good!

We can beat UGA with the players we have but it’s going to take Dabo and company getting creative.
Can our Coaching staff pull this off ?

Maybe. I hope so.

We are going to give it the old college try that's for sure.

Nobody who watched what Aw-bum did to the Alabama defense would have predicted that. Yet, they moved the ball despite not being on the same level as Alabama on paper. Auburn isn't bad like us; but they still moved the ball. And, quite frankly should have won the game, but didn't. Point being, on paper that should have been a thrashing! But, it wasn't.

When you get these kids attention: "and I think Georgia due to it's accomplishments the last two years will get the full attention of the Tigers players all offseason. Same for the coaches top to bottom"!

We will compete and see where we stack up to the standard in CFB. I don't care who wins the NC this year; to me Georgia is currently the standard in the sport.
All that said, "I think we will do a good job preparing and go out and compete well" and I like our chances if we don't beat ourselves.

Pesky facts do not always play well on Tnet @KeoweeIndians® ... Barrett Carter, Peter Woods, TJ Parker make the UGA rotation. That's all.

But Tigers will compete.

They just realize that over the last 3 years, Georgia is 42-2 with two national championships and three top 5 finishes, while we are 30-10 with no top 10 finishes.

Georgia has also recruited better than us. According to 247Sports, their 2024 recruiting class is #1 nationally, and their last three classes have all been top 4. Our 2024 class is outside the top 10, and we have finished outside the top 10 on average during that time.

They also use the transfer portal to bring in difference makers, while we don’t.

This data suggests that they will beat us. If you’re feeling optimistic despite the above facts, that’s great! But you can’t fault others here for being concerned that we will be able to beat them.

Bottom line, Kirby Smart has made better decisions than Dabo has over the last few years, culminating in their program being ahead of ours right now.

Judge - my point is fairly simple.
People have a right to their opinions. This includes me.

And to me; having all of what you just put above says it all. With a mindset like that; "why do we need to play the game then"?

I mean, it took a miracle for Alabama who has a clear recruiting advantage over Auburn(for example). The same Auburn that got beat by San Jose State and dismantled in the bowl game. Yet, it took an absolute miracle for the superior team to win!

My thing is; the 1st National Championship of the two you mentioned, Georgia beat Clemson and had superior talent then too. They had Kirby smart then too. And, a superior yada-this and a better that then too!

It took an ill-advised pass for the eventual National Champions to win though.

So, sorry, I am not giving them the win because of all the things you mentioned.

The game isn't played like that; otherwise, we would just go by roster prowess to decide who wins! And, that isn't how it works!

Can we beat UGA? Yes. Is the roster still talented? Yes. However, some healthy criticism is still warranted. Against a 5 loss Kentucky team we struggled, and we struggled bad. It took a memorable 28 point quarter to pull out a victory. With an offseason of coaching and new hires at critical positions improvement is definetly there for the taking. The big question in my mind: Can Cade take the next step forward? This remains to be seen. The tools and arm talent are there, no doubt. The situational awareness, pocket presence, and Football IQ still leave a lot to be desired. Like it or not theres a reason we will be the underdog to UGA to open the season. Yes, we can win. If we play like we did most of the season or, even the way we played against an average at best Kentucky, UGA will blow our doors off. I'll be rooting for my tigers and I have faith in the coaches, but there's a reason they are currently viewed as a better program. We shouldn't be defeatist or scared, but being realistic isn't a bad thing.

2011Tiger I have to be honest; you lost me after this first part.

Kentucky had zero opt-outs. Zero. On a team that at one point of the season was top 12; maybe even top 10. Are you serious?

At points in the game - I was at the game and can tell you 100%. You had a ton of True Freshmen on the field against a veteran/good Kentucky team. You all are not giving Ky their props and seeing them as a non-Shalante win.

When you had to rely on: Kobe McCloud(rsFR), Cade Denhoff, Shelton Lewis(fr), KB(fr), Terrell(fr), Parker(fr) and a couple more did you really think it was going to be easy?

I guess, I should not expect everyone to keep up with these type of things like me and a lot of people. But, Marcus Tate didn't play, Walker Parks didn't play. Sewell (fr) started on the OL against a veteran SEC (since some of you are so enamored by the patch on some team's jerseys) DL and we ran it well when we needed to. 0- Walker for them is a NFL caliber player. 9 and 92 are too.

But you are entitled to your opinion. In my initial post; I gave Georgia props. It's just beyond belief that people thought we could "just waltz in and beat Kentucky with all the players hurt, missing or opt outs"! When they had "NONE"!

But, it ends there. I don't see why going over all the blah, blah, blah they have this. We don't have this. I mean, they are sitting at home just like we are it seems to me. If you are going to go off previous years; well how about the fact Georgia can't say they are in the most winningest group over the past 13 years. They can't; we can say that!

It's all what you choose to look at. We were not in the top 5 in recruiting when we won those two "RECENT" National Championships.

Not sure how I lost you. Also, I follow the roster just as much as you, I unserstand the youth we had on the field. Additionally, Kentucky was a highly ranker team at one point in the season, just as we we're Top 10 at one time. These considerations do not change my argument. At the end of the season Kentucky limped into the bowl game. They were a 5 loss team, and average at best. While playing our young players only helps us to improve for next year, steuggling against an average team does not instill confidence in the our ability to compete in the opener for next year. Games are played on the field and not T-Net. Upsets happen all the time. Are we capable of upsetting UGA? Absolutely! Are we just as capable of being blown? Also a viable option. Long story short, the Kentucky game told us little about the future and left open a lot of questions going forward.

2011Tiger OK.

But even an average team that's playing a bunch of true freshmen will look like rockstars i.m.o.

Leary wasn't a brand new QB and is a known draft prospect; even before playing at Ky.

But you have the right to believe what you want.

I still stand by what I said in an earlier post in this thread. I would not want that mindset in the ranks If we were in a fighting position. Or on a team (I know you are a fan and not on the team). But, against stacked odds and the situation looking grim - is no time to throw in the towel and have a defeated attitude before the 1st effort is made.

That's what I am hearing on T NET.

Teams change every year! The way bowls are viewed now by players means bowl games are basically a pre-season game. As such; this would have been mostly backups playing someone else's starters! So, I still don't get the point of view; but you and others have that right.

Tigers will be fine in 2024, period!

Fair enough. I can say it is refreshing to have a professional debate on here free from being called a coot. Im not trying to be defeatist, nor is it my argument that we should throw in the towel. However, I do believe this program is not the elite Clemson progran of years past. UGA is currently occupying what used to be Clemson territory in the elites of college football. I was not impressed with out performance against Kentucky. Cade still needs A LOT of growth. The defense worries me far less. Our DBs are young, and inexperienced. They will learn from this game. Our offense is going on 4 seasons of ineptitude. We got bailed out with ugly turnovers; credit to our defense. Until we prove that our team is above average on both sides of the ball we will continue to struggle against any team average or better. Games are played on the field. I will be cheering my tigers on vehemently come 2024. However, like it or not, and I do not, we are not currently on the same level as UGA. We can get there again. We've done it in the past. As of right now though UGA is the far better program.

Go tigers!

Fair point. Notre Dame to be fair isnt elite or on the same level as UGA. I think we will return to elite status. Its asking a lot of a team that barely won 9 games to turn around and defeat a team thats won 2 of the 3 last Nattys. A team doesnt fall from grace quickly and they do not return to form immediately. Realistic expectations for next season in my mind is 10 wins and a 10-12 seed in the playoff. I trust Dabo and the coaches, but it is what it is.

I for one do not look at the FSU game. I look at us. We were still incompetent offensively all season. What makes anyone confident that will change and especially week one against UGA?

If we pull it off our Defense probable plays great, GA makes a few mistakes and our offense does just enough. 27-24 type of game.
