Playoffs

These talking heads on ESPN are about to pee themselves over their belief the SEC will have at least 2 teams and possibly 3 in the playoffs. I can't see that happening but if it does it will be sending the wrong signal to the college football world. If that's the case, just crown the winner of the SEC championship the national champion at the same time and save time and money....I am beginning to hate hearing anything about the SEC!!!

Agree espin has really messed up college football. I hope the selection committee is made up of people who know sports and the first rule is only conference winners in the playoff.

Conference champions? Who wants to see the big 10 champ in the playoffs.... And realistically, what if that champ has 2 or 3 losses- they should go over a clearly better team?

I agree. I guess I am anti SEC because they get rammed down everyone's throat, especially this year. I don't think it will be a successful first playoff if 3 teams from any one conference are chosen. Just my opinion.

I think the real problem is that right now, there's not a team out there that I would say "wow they're hands over fists better than everyone" - still a lot of football left to see who really has it

The fact is the best four teams should be in the playoff

despite conference affiliation.
However, I don't believe fans outside the SEC would sit still for a playoff with two or more SEC teams...the uproar would quickly force expansion into an eight-team method.
What talking heads don't seem to grasp is the dissatisfaction across the nation with the perceived undue influence from the media, particularly ESPN, on the game. It's not just among Clemson folks or the ACC, but widespread among all the conferences.
The playoff committee has the onerous burden to get it right this year to preserve the present format, even if that "right" means a tweaking to insure perception of fairness. That will mean four representatives from four conferences and/or an independent. Anything less IMO will doom the system.
And unless I've missed it, I haven't seen any of the pundits discussing these implications.

The majority of the pundits believe that their lobbying...

will affect the selections for the playoff. They have at least as much information about the process as we, yet they behave as if the committee depends on their opinions.
Each of the major conferences has two committee members assigned to them. These member will each receive copies of the games which are condensed to hour long for their personal review.
Unless I'm mistaken none of this game film will have any talking except the play by play. If there's any other independent study my intuition suggest it will be of particular key personnel injuries and rehabs. It seemed The NCAAB Selection Committee seemed to reflect such a knowledge during their selection process.
Imo, seeding two teams from the same conference will only happen if the top teams of two conferences meet during the regular season and they use the head to head match up as a factor to disqualify a conference champion.
That could have happened with FSU/UF, Clemson/UGAy or Clemson USuCk.

disappeared. Hardly a mention of it. The talking heads know the West has beat up on the sisters of the poor so far and know they are about to beat up and eliminate each other. Last week the SEC West hype machine will have this much hot air.

Why do they act like a one loss Oregon team is out of it?

They played and beat Michigan State OOC. That's as much as any SEC West team has done.
