You guys keep asking why these players are leaving or what triggered it....here are 3 main reasons to help you out so you don't have to ask a thousand times

I don’t blame them, but I also don’t feel even the slightest bit bad for the kids that don’t find a home, or end up in a worst situation. It harkens to the old HL Mencken quote. These kids seemed to know what they wanted, and deserve to get it good and hard.

True. However, most of us probably don't work at jobs where millions are watching and rooting for us, when we shelling out hundreds of millions of $$$$ for attendance at games, special cable channels, parking, drinks, food, t-shirts, etc. If we leave a company to go somewhere else, it's usually not a big deal. TNet won't mention it, nor will any other media outlet. We simply don't make the impact many of these players/coaches do. We might on a more personal one-to-one level, but certainly not nationally, regionally, or even in our town or city.

But those millions of dollars being spent weren't being funneled their way (historically). I do think there's an overcorrection happening now that players can get some of the pie, but I don't begrudge them chasing their piece.

Can't blame them for trying to parlay the skills they have into compensation while they can.
Now, it may change how I see the sport and ultimately my interest, but ultimately I blame the system as it was for that more than the system as it now is.

Players will be employees. That will benefit some, and not others, but ultimately I understand the desire to be able to profit of your effort.

I'm not angry with the players , I'm mostly angry that nothing is going to be done to try and put preventative measures in place to keep the whole thing from blowing up.
My point is, much of this has nothing to do with Clemson as a football program and I truly don't believe that there are deeper rooted issues causing these departures other than money and probably playing time, but mostly money

Yep. It seems like all guardrails have been broken or damaged. Don't know why the rule about sitting out a year before transferring is no longer in place. And I think that rule should apply to coaches as well as players.

Beau doesnt even know where he is going yet. Also, ND pays less. He is visiting there. Its not always about cash now. Maybe he wants a different offense that is more explosive. Players leave because they dont feel like they are thriving or maximizing their talents. Maybe they just want change and arent happy. They are human.
Makuba doesnt know where he is going.
Oklahoma QB...thats a QB. Maybe he is, but Oklahoma has the number 2 QB in the nation coming in. Also, starting QB at Oklahoma can get the money right there.
Most wont get much at all, if anything.
DJ doesnt know where he is going and he isnt highly sought after. Very few players are transferring for the cash. 50% of the players dont ever play again.

This cluster that NCAA has allowed is the end result of bringing these young men up in the era of “participation trophies”. They have been misguided to believe you don’t have to compete to win one. Sadly enough, hard work, determination , and dedication are becoming secondary to money or at least that is the carrot that is being dangled in front of them. No one is getting through to all these guys that they are risking a college education without the financial debt most students end up with for possibility of fast cash. These young men are not to blame, but the system they are victims of. Everyone of them wants more playing time and to get to the NFL! Unfortunately very few will make it. NIL is single-handedly destroying college football. The greedy schools, coaches, and fans are selling this horse hockey to these young men without once stopping to think what they are doing to the 95% who don’t make it to the NFL. I understand it takes money to provide these athletes facilities, tuition, travel, uniforms, etc., but enticing them away from one school to another is wrong on every level and giving them the idea that it is the thing to do if they don’t get to play as much as they would like to is just as wrong. Unfortunately coaches cannot coach like they need to in order to develop players. I have read a ton of criticism about this coach, that coach, or the other coach. I agree there are questions about some, but their hands are tied to a large degree with the current accepted mentality that if I don’t like it, I can just go elsewhere. We seriously need to get back to where players are responsible for their obligations to the college they signed with! If they want the NIL money, they have to earn it with the school they chose. If they want to get paid, make it a contract that works both ways! Oh, and while I am on my rant, throw away the NIL and pay them all! After all we have taught them everything gets a participation trophy and a debt-free education is not enough anymore. Love my tigers , but hate this bull crap. Go tigers!

50% of the players dont even get picked up in the portal. Many get nothing finacially even when they do find a place to play.

It is a new day. Don’t rely on historical facts. These players were tampered with and they know they are going to get more money elsewhere.
Starting to wonder if I will be done watching CFB sooner rather than later. As in tuning out starting next year. And I was a diehard folks.

I am speaking about Clemson portal players....Clemson players and your coot players are entering the portal for different reasons. Clemson players are mostly talented and can earn money in the portal . Coot players are in the portal because they are a sinking ship and don't want to go down with it

There is going to have to be some kind of salary cap, or an attempt at one to level the playing field. Also contracts to finish at said school, or at least the end of the season. Transferring should only be allowed once, imo.
