Sad sight today on water at Beaufort SC..

an unattended boat around 40 ft that was floating & moored last night off ICW, near my RV parking site, has sunk while I slept and now Coast Guard Is attaching a warning buoy to it, at low tide.

Owner has left it there safely for months so I assume water pump quit working due to battery failure..or a hose broke.

Geez, what a bummer & loss.

I believe maritime law would consider that an abandoned craft that ownership can be claimed by whomever pulls it up to the surface. However, it may need to sit a certain amount of time. Free boat anyone?
