Sumter Restaurant/ Bar suggestions

I am having to work down in Sumter this weekend to help set up a new account for work. I will be staying downtown at the Hyatt and have never stayed in Sumter before. Has anyone ever eaten at the Side bar? Reviews look good. Also, are there any good happy hour places downtown. Thanks for the information in advance.

I haven't been to a bar in Sumter in several decades, but make sure to eat at the Bar-B-Q Hut down 15 south. I stop by and buy bar-b-q and hash every time I come home. For a good breakfast spot with plenty of Bobby Richardson items, try the Guiniard Diner. Tough growing up a Tiger in the Gamecock City.

you'll be more or less across the street from Sumter Original Brewery (SOB). Has a rooftop and lots of beer and bar food if thats your thing.

Side bar is good. It’s been about 3 years since I was there but they had decent sandwiches and bar food and craft beer selection. Tiger friendly, which is a bit unusual in Sumter. I think I remember maybe someone saying the owner is a CU Alum.
