I think he is referring to the fact that the Panthers have NEVER drafted a Clemson Tiger football player. Never. Seems very deliberate. Shame on the Panthers. Yet another reason NOT to pull for the Panthers.

If I was a Panthers fan I'd feel it. I think it's odd and the rest of the NFL agrees. Seems Charhole is the loser.

Nothing wrong with that, after a few years of them never drafting a Clemson player, I've never watched another Panther game, and my IN Laws living in Charlotte have offered me free tickets that I gladly turned down!!!

I'm not interested in teams that don't have a single Clemson player on them. That means I will NEVER be interested in the Panthers.

I live in York County and after the BS down here off 77 I say screw the Panthers. Tepper came out soon after the purchase of the Panthers and stated he was behind the players kneeling during the national anthem and that was it for me. Hate it, they are 30 minutes up the road but as they say it is what it is.

When you have the idiots in charge at the panthers organization trying to go into a joint venture, with the idiots at the city of rock hill, that project was doomed from the beginning. Tepper is scum.

We currently have an almost completed bridge that looks pretty darn good by the way going to nowhere.
The shell of the facility was up and it’s now been been torn down. The amount of money wasted on this deal is mind boggling.

Yup, Tepper is sleazy. He did the same thing with the soccer training facility at the old Eastland Mall site. Luckily they never started any work on it like the Panthers facility in Rock Hill.

CU players should be glad they don't get drafted by the Cats. Otherwise they'd never play on a winning team. Cats need much more than a QB. When they play, I can hear 'em sucking 21 miles away.

I am a die hard Panthers fan and could give 2 ##### that they don’t take a Clemson Tiger. Who gives a sh*t? Y’all are as bad as UGA fans mad because the Falcons don’t take their players. Grow up.

Well buddy, this is a Clemson discussion bored. Some of us are interested in Clemson football, and only follow the NFL because of Clemson players. Nobody gives a sh*t what you think, so move on. Post less.

Looks like there are quite a few here that give a sh*t. Just thought I'd point that out, just in case you missed it.

You're not missing much.
Saw them play in Charlotte at home against TB this past season. Poor product, and even worse stadium. Very underwhelmed.
Saw lots of transplanted Yankees and Fan-Boys in attendance. Not my crowd. A friend had some extra tickets and invited me and the wife. The experience made me feel like a "snobby" college football fan...lol. Not at all what I expected from an NFL game.

They have SIGNED the odd Tiger player over the years, but

they have never, ever DRAFTED one in the common draft. This was also true of the Ravens, someone else mentioned, until this year, when the Ravens drafted Trenton Simpson in the third round.

Atlanta Falcon's never draft players from the beloved Dawgs. In fact, the Falcon's have never drafted a UGA player in the first round in 50+ years. "Insert NFL Team here" never drafts players from "insert closest college football team here." Why college fan's get so butt hurt about it blows my mind.

If most fans are like me about the only reason I watch any NFL team is because there are former Tiger players on the team. Besides putting an awful product on the field, with no Tiger players, there is no way I will watch them. Many other teams, i.e the Raiders understand the culture at Clemson produces good players and great teammates.

Reasons to pull for a team
May 1, 2023, 1:22 PM
[ in reply to Re: The “charlotte panthers” ] |
|
"If most fans are like me..."
I tend to not think that anybody is like anybody, much less like me.
Reasons why we pull for a team, in no particular order: * we've pulled for this team since childhood, maybe because our dad or friends did * it is geographically close and you may have the opportunity to attend * if a player(s) from our favorite HS/college team are on it * some star player that we like plays for that team * they have an exciting offensive scheme (or defense, if you're into that) * bandwagon effect (the Chiefs suddenly have a huge fan base that I don't remember before) * some equally illogical reason (you like the color scheme)
My pro loyalties are distinct from my college ones. I've liked the 49ers since the early 80s. There have been a few Clemson Tigers in the red and gold, but that has never played a factor in my rooting interests. I've never wanted to see Isaiah Simmons win against the 49ers. I'll pull for the Niners even if all 22 starters for their opponents graduated from Clemson.
In a game that doesn't involve the 49ers, the factors that determine who I want to win, in this order, are: 1. Do I hate one team? (Cowboys, Redskins, Seattle) 2. How does the outcome of this game affect the Niners' playoff positioning? 3. Is my secondary team playing? (I like Buffalo in the AFC although Jax might overtake them) 4. What Clemson guy do I want to see succeed?

I'm not a Panthers fan, but oftentimes teams take a somewhat "local" kid just to sell some extra tickets.
Do you think if the Panthers had the number one overall pick, we had a Trevor Lawrence identical clone, they needed a QB, it was a very weak QB class, would they take him?
