Myles and Bresee have the tougher obstacles to conquer in my opinion. They will be asked to do and show a lot. These NFL coaches are going to be quick to pull the trap floor lever rather than have patience to wait a long time for any lineman to develop.

Why would you pay someone $10-20M for them to only reach their potential after the contract is over?
If you're a 22 year old man drafted in the top 15 of the NFL draft, you should be a stud by Year 2.

Does it seem to others that the combination of measurables & performance (as far as ‘NFL worthiness) for Grady Jarrett and K.J.Henry are somewhat comparable?
Sure, the NFL’s desired measurables for a DE (or OLB) differ widely from the desired measurables for a DT.
Measurables what they are, IMO the NFL remains too preoccupied with measurables and lacking the ability to recognize how & why on field performance -and- how off-field attributes converge to make a player either ‘outperform’ his measurables or to ‘underperform’ his measurables.

First, Grady Jarrett / DT measurables commentary:
Too short, short arms, fast but not Aaron Donald type fast, strong but not Tarzan type strong. NFL says ho-hum.
Next, Grady Jarrett’s college career: Outmaneuvers OL, withstands OL in ‘locked together’ encounters, TEs & RBs hopeless in blocking him (I.e., cut blocks didn’t slow him down much), incredible stamina, almost never got ‘take me out of the game’ hurt.
Summary - Grady Jarrett: Actual play in college far exceeded his measurables. NFL (ATL) risks 5th round pick. G.Jarrett quickly becomes all pro NFL DT.

Second, K.J.Henry measurables prognostication commentary:
We already know that KJ’s hand size, leg dimensions, arm size, and arm length are not in line with those of NFL’s fantasy DE body types.
We already know that KJ’s 40 time won’t clock in at track star numbers, and that his strength numbers are not likely to be shockingly impressive.
NFL will probably characterize him as one of the dreaded ‘tweeners.’
Next, K.J.’s playing career. K.J.’s rise to college stardom didn’t happen until the 2022 season. So what. A college player’s final year means more than his younger years. (Reference Justin Ross.) K.J.’s 2022 season was much better than his impressive stats revealed. His attributes of play recognition, fluidity, excellent hands, and all-out / all-the-time hustle outshined his (easily recognized) speed, power, and toughness. Furthermore, K.J. … similar to Grady Jarrett in college … never seemed to get pooped, and was extremely durable.
Draft forecast for K.J.: It is conceivable that K.J.Henry might not get drafted until NFL round 7. (Hard to imagine that K.J. will end up as UDFA.) Whether he’s slotted for OLB or DE, who knows. IMO his better fit is as a quasi hybrid OLB whose responsibilities will include covering TEs and rushing the QB, along with some ‘spy duties’ for defending against QB RPO type situations.
NFL career prognostication for K.J.: I envision a long and productive NFL career for K.J.Henry. Whether he makes All Pro, who knows. Nevertheless, I have a high degree of confidence that K.J.Henry will ‘punch far above his (NFL draft position) weight class’ and end up a steal for the team that drafts him … just as was the case with Grady Jarrett.

I think these predictions are spot on. I'm no expert, but I think Bresee could have helped himself with another year that might have shown a dominant player. A is, he was hurt, and had serious family issues that probably have masked who he really is. Another year at Clemson may well have earned him many more millions. Maybe not, but time will tell.

Yes, but that goes both ways. Come back next year and don't have a great year (for whatever reason) and that becomes a trend. This year you have a lot of reasons why perhaps on the field performance did not meet many people's expectations... no trend. If he did not have "measurables" and did not have that great sophmore season to go along with them, then I would agree that he would have needed to stay another year. As it is, he still has a chance at 1st round and even if not, he'll still be a early pick and make a ton of guaranteed money.

I think the “top NFL analyst” is spot on, and no Clemson fan should be surprised. Much of the frustration this past season focused on DJU. But even with Venables gone, our defense was lauded by all analysts before the season began. Why? Because of the players that the “top NFL analyst” discussed. And yet, our defense was very inconsistent all year. And while you could blame much of that on our secondary, the fact is that the defensive line rarely played up to their potential. Notre Dame killed us, especially with the running game. Total ND offense: 350 yards. And South Carolina scored enough points to beat us—in Death Valley! Total S.C. offense: 423 yards. Most of that was Spencer Rattler’s 360 yards passing, but you can’t totally blame our secondary. Our defense—including the guys in this year’s draft—never pressured Rattler all day. And the Orange Bowl? Tennessee had 383 yards of total offense, which was less than we had but all they needed to dominate and win. Bottom line: I believe all of these defensive players—recruited and coached by Venables before he left—could have been better coached and prepared by his successor and his staff for the big step up to the NFL. They weren’t, and the NFL is going to be a huge challenge for all of them.
