Judgements from random people about what other people should make or should not make are meaningless.

Colleges and how they pay their entertainers / ambassadors is their business; the colleges ultimately decide what ‘rules’ for compensating athletes will be imposed. In other words, the colleges ‘self I pose’ the rules on themselves.

NCAA is in control? Not really; the rules which NCAA ‘imposes’ on the colleges can be changed (maybe not immediately … see the contracts with ESPN, etc. which would be prohibitively expensive to break) at such time that the colleges aren’t happy with them.

I don’t see this changing. The philosophical raison d’etre for colleges has largely changed from the business model of creating reputational value via superior education of students (via truly educating young people) to the business model of attracting students who pay exorbitant prices (with the government subsidizing college educations by numerous means … including but not limited to student loan forgiveness) by marketing themselves as a quasi 4 year Disney World experience. In other words, the colleges have changed from’ the young person as the student’ model to ‘young person as the consumer’ model.

College sports? College sports teams represent a meaningful aspect of a student’s entertainment experience at the college. As for the funding of most colleges’ athletic programs, pretty much each college has a separate athletic funding organization which supposedly agrees to function in accordance with the ‘rules’ which apply for the college itself. However, as we all have seen with the NIL and tampering, the ‘rules’ to which athletic funding clubs are supposed to comply are self- investigated thoroughly by the college itself.

In other words, the current college business model finds that cheating in the athletic programs is good for business. Those schools with less wealthy athletic ‘clubs’ can beech and moan all bey want, but complaints from the less wealthy schools will have but minimal impact in the behaviors of the schools with rich athletic clubs.

All of this is a round about way to conclude that the ‘should’s’ of how much college athletes should be paid is irrelevant. The marketplace is simply doing its thing.

I thought it was a great statement from Dabo, he's still the best in the business in my mind despite me criticizing some of his moves the last 4 years.

For me i found the article interesting because i'm always trying to read into Dabos words a little bit, I know he's a very expressive person, but in the last few years especially he's realized the media will take every little thing he says or has said in the past and try to create a story, for that reason i think he stays a little bit more vague now in his press conferences (on the state of college fooball)

In my opinion based on what he said inside this latest article i believe Dabo in his heart knows this is no longer "truly" college football. He realizes it has gone something far beyond that but as his nature he still says positive things for example saying "NIL is good", i personally dont think he believes that in the deepest part of his heart, but he's all about creating the positive atmosphere and program for his players which is great.

I also don't think Dabo will ever go to the NFL or even any other program in college, i have no proof or way to know that other than a feeling i get based on how he talks (grow where your planted) i believe he has zero interest in ever going to Alabama, if Saban would have left 2 or 3 years earlier i think it may have been different but that ship has sailed.

Lastly i think Dabo may only intend on coaching 20 years, thats probably the number he's set in his own mind, and with all the changes including big money for coaches he's already set financially, I believe he first started at Clemson in 2008/2009 so he may only coach another 4 years in my opinion.
