We don't need a QB

CK2 will win back to back Heismans

and CV is the future after him

Stop making CV irrelevant

I watched him visit almost every home game last season.
he is the heart of the incoming recruiting class - he got every one on board as a team.

We really need to think about other positions rn

we are good at QB

Totally agree for the next 2-3 years!
We need another 5 Star in the 2025 class.
They can look for others potential QB’s, but we need some studs at OL, WR and CB.

While I agree that CV is going to be a good/great starter for 2ish years after Klubnik leaves, I do think we need 1-2 solid QB's that have the mentality to be a good backup (i.e. pushing the starter but knowing that it's not really his role, helping break down film, motivation, etc, being your mom's favorite player) because without that guy, we are one injury or poor performance away from looking at walk-ons to man the "most important" position on the field. I don't think we need 5* behind 5* behind 5* knowing that one or more will transfer away when they don't win the job. Quality depth that knows they are depth is critical to team chemistry. I'm not sure we can always count on guys transferring back or from the Alabama pipeline to fill that role.

We should look for a solid 3 star that is already running an offensive system similar to Garrett's - just in case we need a solid backup to one of our five stars - someone who won't leave through the portal because he isn't getting enough playing time.

I’m with you on this Tobias. I feel like most programs who sign 4/5 star QBs in 3 consecutive years are going to lose at least one of them to the transfer portal.

If CK2 wins back-to-back Heismans, Vizzina might portal

Vizzina is not likely to sit behind Klubnick for two years at Clemson.

And if Vizzina is good enough to beat out Klubnick, the Cade probably leaves.

That’s why we need to bring in a highly ranked QB in ‘24.

In the current environment, we need to recruit and sign a top QB every year.

We absolutely need a 2024 QB***

No need talking the ones we will not get. The first few games of this season will huge for our future because kids that are not committed will be looking at our offense to see what we are doing. They are no going to commit just because we have a new OC, they will want to see results.

I agree, I have never seen us go after 5 star LM, WR or CB's. Our CBs we subpar last year so why do we only recruit 3-4 stars?

There were only 39 Five stars total all positions in the nation 2023. The Big 10 conference had zero commits. The ACC had 4 commits. We get a few along the way, Fred Davis was a five star Bresee was five star DJ was five star.

Just as this article points out, "commitment" means nothing

anymore. Schools and NIL Collectives do not back off until that NLI has been sent in. (And the Shadow Operatives don't even stop then, goading kids towards the Transfer Portal illegally.)

I'd be happy to be wrong but this always felt like a year where we end up taking a 3 star, just to have someone in case of emergency, guy. Gonna be hard to sign three top tier QBs in a row in this day and age.

I think that may be the best scenario - a 5 star starter and a really good 3 star backup.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Always try to recruit the best … guys who want to compete.

Feb 7, 2023, 12:07 PM [ in reply to Re: TNET: Where will the Tigers look next for a 2024 quarterback? ]

Our very best situation came when a HS kid named Trevor Lawrence looked at our roster, saw a 5-star, and four 4-stars and said screw it, I’m better than all those guys … I’m coming to Clemson.

In the current environment, you’d better have a solid line of great QBs in waiting because as soon as one cements himself as starter, the next guy will probably portal. You need a guy waiting in the wings a couple of classes removed.

Not a priority! Recruits are looking at the two superstars plus the experienced transfer we have already and viewing us as a full stable without the opportunity to start right away!
