Has again… back to back elite QBs… also listen to the names of the people that Lawrence is throwing two in that video… We have no one on campus like that that we are aware of. Perhaps the two new guys will become that.

Trevor got the ball out quickly which allowed the receiver to only have one man to beat vs 2 or 3. He had great field vision.

DJ threw knuckle balls
Cade throws take 5mins to get to the WR
and Blake Hebert can't hit a target to save his life
it's just very very hard to watch

Hated the way his mechanics regressed while he was here. Schools still use Trent Dilfer’s criticism of our QB development to negatively recruit against us.

are in the NFL now? In defense of our QBs since TL, they haven't had the same level of receiver talent that TL had. No doubt TL was/is a great QB, but he couldn't do it by himself.
Let's just hope that this fall we'll see marked improvement with our receivers.

Trevor was simply better them all combined. WRs we're much better too. Still trying to figure out how you get blown out 2 yrs in a row in the CFP with 1st pick in the draft and a first round RB. The regression is real...

Well when your defense give up about 600 yards and your offensive line isn't blocking, I don't see why this surprises you.

Tajh, TL, KB or DW would have gone to the playoffs in 2021, 2022 and 2023. The defense was just that good.
2021 Clemson went 10-3 with an overtime loss in Raleigh and a 7 point loss to UGA with a QB who threw 9 TDs and 10 INT.
2022 Clemson was 11-3. Would have even gone to the playoffs still if DJ had a pulse against SC.
2023 is the only questionable year. But I still stand by my statements.
YES the WRs were better, but that's not what the post is about.

I mean no doubt TL16 is once in a generation type talent but look at his surrounding talent. Ross making it look easy, Cornell Powell tracking the ball and making a great catch. Clean pockets. The whole team is lightyears better.
How many of our recent receivers struggle tracking the ball and making contested catches? Starting in 2019 we struggled recruiting the offensive side of the ball. Why? Idk but clearly it took a hit. And I don’t mean from just a star rating. Some guys were billed to be good on paper but didn’t make the transition to college.

You simply can't expect to have Deshaun Watson/Trevor Lawrence level quarterbacks all the time. Nobody has that.

Trevor throwing to Tee, Ross, Refrow, and Rodgers while also having Etienne at RB was simply unfair.
Cade throwing to Antonio, Randall, Stellato, and Tyler while also having Mafah at RB isn't the same.

in that clip without Tee Higgins, Nuk Hopkins, Sammy Watkins or a bevy of NFL receivers. HE was just that good.
I agree, TL and DW were exceptions, and we may not have another one that good for a long time. But, high-level QB play is a necessity for playoff caliber teams - no exceptions or way around it. At the bare minimum, you have to have somebody capable of moving the offense effectively and efficiently while facing good defenses.

i will say this…its the most important position on the team and you really never know if the kids are going to turn out like you hope they will
-i think portal qbs are the most valuable portal players for the most part
I understand why even slightly proven commodities are having lots of money thrown at them
i think Cade can get us to the expanded playoff if he plays smart and makes good decisions - It’s a national championship caliber team that we don’t have right now

Lol....we were incredibly lucky to get a once in a generation talent like DW4. We then were able to recreate it with our very next quarterback in Trevor Lawrence which is extremely rare
Yet here you are thinking this should be the norm. Sorry my guy, not every quarterback is gonna pan out. Unfortunately our unprecedented run has given people a false sense of reality like the OP

It's not a mystery--we were spoiled by having two back-to-back generational ELITE QB's. What are the odds of having three generational talents in a row? Pretty slim.

I don’t think a lot of people realized how good Trevor was from day 1. He’s one of the best natural passers we’ve ever seen out of high school.
With that being said, I really do believe Cade will do good this year. He just needs sometime to grow. In todays college sports, a lot of players don’t get enough time to develop due to the transfer portal being a popular option.
