I have a friend who has a soon to be son-in-law playing for Notre Dame. Yesterday he entered the portal. He described the atmosphere inside the program as toxic during spring practices. Apparently Marcus Freeman is feeling the pressure to be a playoff team. He took over coaching the punt team and his coaching demeanor took on a much more aggressive and demeaning nature recently. Will be interesting to see how many portal loses ND has post spring.

It's a kid that really wanted to stay. He asked to meet with HC and was denied.

HC said (all second hand of course) the player is a bad human being, a bad teammate, and a bad representative of ND. I've met the player in question. That is an extreme and unfair way to describe him. According to the player, other players are going to transfer as well. Only time will tell.

A good friend of mine was the offensive coordinator at Notre Dame and was head coach at several other D-1 schools. I asked him one day what the difference between coaching at ND and the other schools was. He said one word ......"pressure". So yes, I son not doubt that Freeman is feeling pressure ...... self imposed or otherwise.
