said why not run Ship or Mafah thru line and if needed line up both in that dual package on 4th down..
or put in the bruise blocking crew to bust a hole for RB for that 1/2 yard!

The pass was the right move, it was just poorly blocked. If Brown and Collins dont get confused on who to block and go for the same guy it is a touchdown.

If the right guard and center both go for the same man a run play gets blown up to. Just poor execution.

Bingo. Easy to criticize when a play isn't executed properly - if scores a TD, it's a genius play call.

that play had two options. Shipley runs or Cade throws to the edge.
each option had 3 defenders watching. Clemson had 2 WRs to block
Florida State wins that 9/10 times every single day
Cade needed to change plays.

You can say that about 90% of offensive play calls. If everything goes right and everyone does their job, you can get a touchdown. You don't plan for a perfect play. The right call is to go with what's safest, the 1/2 yard first down. Then you get 4 more downs to try to have your fun and get your touchdown. It's why the most important lesson middle school quarterbacks learn is to take the easy play and move the chains. It was the wrong read and it's stupid to think otherwise.

The coaches have said that the pass was not supposed to be an option.
It was window dressing for a run up the middle and CK made a mistake.
If anything, the coaches said they apparently weren't clear enough with CK because they thought it was clear what he was supposed to do but he didn't do it.
I just hope this wasn't a Tajh Boyd moment where CK ignored what the coaches told him to do.

Didn't Antonio Williams score a touchdown against FAU or Chas Southern on the exact same playcall? Any chance AW being out had something to do with the poor execution and lack of blocking by the receivers?
