Just heard it was the size of a small car. Not a balloon.

No one knows.

Kirby said the object was flying at an altitude of 40,000 feet and “posed a reasonable threat to the safety of civilian flight.” Out of an abundance of caution and at the recommendation of the Pentagon, President Joe Biden ordered the military to down the object, Kirby said.

Kirby said U.S. officials still don't know much about the object, including where it's from

That's my theory.

Although the PGA denies any involvement, Greg Norman was on his way in his Gulfstream to promote LIV golf in China.

Biden has thus struck a blow against the Saudis and the Chinese although the Aussies are going to be riled up for a while.

Almost had to be a balloon of sorts. Heavier-than-air flying objects can't stay aloft for long without propulsion fuels and a means to burn them. Battery powered propeller craft don't do so well at 40,000 feet. According to reports, we knew about this thing late Thursday night, so I suspect it's some type of balloon.
