For some I guess it’s the same time positive support becomes a cult. I don’t understand how some folks think everyone has to be at the far ends of the spectrum. There is a lot of space in the middle. You should visit sometime. Same goes for political views.

and of course it's hard to pinpoint exactly when, but the point, of course, is that it can transition in that way, and WHEN IT DOES, you can be sure that a claim of "conviction" will be used to defend the blind faith.
I appreciate Dabo's convictions on many things, and just b/c I have a few bones to pick doesn't mean I want him to summarily toss his convictions out the window or quit being a man of conviction. But it's not like all the critics lack their own conviction or are even all taking shots at his convictions in the first place. It gets a little tiring for every retort to reduce the criticism to being shots at his convictions specifically, or having convictions generally.
For example, (and weirdly), even though I'm probably a "1.5%er," I think Dabo's portal position is more well-thought out than some assume (which is not to say perfect), and I support him on that.

I personally couldn’t give the last crap about what he believes. Those are private matters and most 21st century humans agree it should stay that way. Win ball games, we ain’t paying you to preach.

Why would we find out after the Notre Dame game?
Anyone sitting around waiting for position coaches to get fired mid-season is probably wasting their time.
Even if Clemson finishes 4-8, I would not expect changes until the season's over.

Coincidentally season end is when Clemson players can enter the portal. I see the Tigers finishing 6-6, but at 4-8, IMHO we could witness a mass exodus.

I'll give you my answer, from a Nole perspective.
1. Conviction is believing that a coach who has won two national championships, 7 of 8 conference championships, and 10 games for 12 years in a row, hasn't forgot how to coach and can fix the problems. It is a belief based on evidence.
2. Blind faith is believing Willie Taggart will correct the problems left by Jimbo Fisher because he talks about how much he loves FSU and the HC position at FSU is his dream job. FSU fans bought it. We didn't realize he was a cheerleader, not a coach.
