Which of last weekend's major upsets did you enjoy most?

Sep 13, 2022, 9:58 AM

I always enjoy seeing the little guy shock the big guy - especially at home and especially when they're being paid millions to do it! But I LOVED seeing App St upset Jimbo & the boys at A&M. I generally like TA&M fans, and Clemson and TA&M share a lot in common, but I do NOT like Jimbo. I think he's an overpaid schmuck who destroyed and deserted his previous school (FSU) and ran off (from his wife) to big money and lofty expectations that he can't meet. I really enjoyed seeing them get a nice big slice of humble pie!

I enjoyed seeing Marshall whoop up on Notre Dame, but I like ND's coach and hope he's able to do well. This won't help him with the fan base. Kinda the same with Scott Frost at NE - I was hoping he could make it work, but obviously that didn't happen.

Really, really enjoyed seeing Jimbo take it on the chin from Chase & Co though!

USofC will be dogs in 8 of their remaining 10

Sep 13, 2022, 10:17 AM

They've got Charlotte and SC State in weeks 4 and 5. After that, it's turning ugly. I don't see how they can pull out more than 5 wins this season.

That's why they stopped scheduling another Power 5 school non conference other than Clemson. They adopted the SEC West 3 cupcake model to pad the schedule.

Gotta pad those wins for ole Shane.

Seriously, it's a major uphill battle for SCar year in and year out. Similar to Auburn. They get Georgia, Florida, A&M, Kentucky, Clemson, and a rotating SECW team every year. 6-6 or 7-5 will be the norm for them if they get lucky in a few of these. I don't see them winning 10 games or more anytime soon, based on schedule alone.

Is it really an upset when anyone beats USuC? I figure it's more of an upset whenever they manage to pull off a W!

Since when is any loss by the coots an upset. It's been so commonplace that I always expect there is a good chance they lose. I'm a little biased, though.

Sep 13, 2022, 10:13 AM

I liked seeing App State go into College Station and beat what most thought was the third best team in the SEC. That's great.

But, ND has this smugness about them that has always turned me off. Despite not winning a national championship in 33 years, they act like they're the defending champions every year. They aren't interested in joining a conference because they'd rather continue scheduling who they like every year (like Navy and Stanford), which guarantees them a 6-win season every year.

So to have Notre Dame pay Marshall $1.25M to make the trip to South Bend and embarrass them, it was glorious. What should've been a tune-up game for ND, turned into a tune-up game for Marshall's run to the Sun Belt championship. Upset Jesus is pleased.

I stupidly got my hopes up that Texas could hang on for the win. They more than held their own in the trenches, but the missed FG and the safety that got (unjustly) taken away were too much to overcome.
I heard Texas was paying their Offensive linemen 50k a year. If so, it looks like they got their money’s worth against Bama.

100%. I did enjoy going to the game when we played TA&M there, and the fans were very nice to us, but I just can't stand Jimbo. He is a smarmy slime ball, IMO. Very disappointed that the Aggies hired him. They could have done much better tan that.

except with ND, USCw, Michigan, Texas and a few other football teams. Note that while some of those listed may not be in exact order on my hate list, ND is always at the top. Why?

I remember when every parish in America was used as a recruiting station for ND. That was long ago but that type hate lives on still, 'Go to #### or play for ND,' seemed to be ND's motto. I could say I'm going to pull for the devil if he plays against ND but that would be ambiguous.
