nope, he is right. the 'blue blood' mantra is very strong with the Ladies Basketball commentary. Way better coverage with the 'other' sports. Softball has even relented to other teams breaking into the fold.

Agreed. There is very logical reasoning for not enjoying women’s sports compared to men’s. But you’re labeled sexist if you think it’s lesser competition and not entertaining.

I just don’t care for women’s sports. I love women. Great actresses, singers, politicians I support. I don’t care to watch them play ball at a much lesser entertainment/talent level.

Also I disagree on soccer. I am a huge soccer fan and love Liverpool with a passion, the women are unbearable. Not everyone is USA women’s talent and even they would lose to a good high school men’s team.

I understand they can't do what men can do.... but it's still fun to see great accuracy, great awareness, great anticipation... and all the other things the elite women's soccer players can do.

But with basketball... it's all missing except a few are good at shooting. Everything else is WAY WAY worse.

Idk I watch it pretty often and the shot power, technical moves and reaction time is worlds away just like basketball imo. I do watch both, but acting like it’s the same baffles me. I’d say women’s basketball is just as close to men’s as women’s soccer is if you compare it to top European teams.

This is why softball is the most exciting of all women’s sports. It’s a fact that women are not as physical, fast, athletic, etc as men. That is why softball offsets that and makes the field of play smaller than that of which the men play on. Speeds everything up and is absolutely fun to watch.

You are missing the point. Nobody is saying people "shouldn't" watch it or that it is not "worth it" in "reality." People can like or dislike whatever they want for whatever reason they want..... but women's basketball would make more sense if it was like 8.5 foot rims.... and a smaller court or something. Like softball.

Women are basically playing the same game as the men but they can't do it well enough for it to work well. The 3 point line being in isn't enough. Do something else to change the game for women so its more compelling. It's like if they expected women to play baseball instead of softball. That would be awful.

Obviously everyone is going to support their family. Are you going to watch 4 year old t-ball on television if its not your kid?

People only watch that because it is their kid. And that's awesome. But it's obviously a nightmare from a sport's perspective. But as a dad, that doesn't matter at all. It's amazing to watch your kid.

It's obvious to most people (not all) that men are better than women in sports. We watch CFB when the NFL players are better than college players.
Women's college basketball has really improved the last however many years. Girls SB at the top level is really exciting. I'm a baseball fan and I love watching SB just as much.
It's about the competition and the level of play. Look how good the girls can shoot the three point shot now.

in their own way.

Last year's women's final four was better than the men's for sure. I also much prefer college softball to baseball.

I think it's good for ESPN to promote it because it creates interest and shows that it can be great. All about the platform. That's why women's tennis has way more history and popularity than other women's sports, because they have been getting that platform since the 70s. While it took until the 90s or even later for other women's sports.

Not basketball. No way. There is no element about women's basketball that is as compelling as men's. The average game is less competitive (statistically based on score difference) and there are less possible actions taken by players due to physical limitations.... there are no tactical or strategic elements that are more compelling, there are no rule differences that allow for more entertaining scenerio... there is literally nothing physical, intellectual or statistical about women's basketball that is even potentially more compelling than a game of men's basketball. (This is NOT speaking of women's sport's in general)

The same can NOT be said for all women's sports. Some may argue there are other sports that the above applies to. I happen to find women's world cup soccer comparatively compelling (maybe like 2/3) but others here disagree with that. I don't have a solid argument against them. I tried my best in the thread above.

I believe the physical gap between men and women shows up much more in basketball (upper body) than it does in soccer (lower body). And the difference between men and women in sports like tennis is less obvious when watching a game. Women do the same things men do just slower and less powerful.... but their skill is still impressive and compelling. I enjoy watching women's tennis for example.

Most women's basketball games involve a lot of BAD basketball. Women's tennis isn't BAD tennis. With WBB, you see a lot more goofy errors, displays of physical limitations, layup, layup, layup, pop shot, pop shot, layup. Only in a few games (like the most recent NCAA tourney) were most of the games potentially entertaining.

They should lower the rims, shrink the court, and play 4 v 4.... and then boom.... problem solved. It instantly becomes more watchable. It's like watching guys play on 13 foot rims with a ball that is twice as big. It's just awkward.

Have you watched EPL men vs women soccer? The difference in athleticism is amplified due to the size of the field. Soccer has so much more ground to cover, so the sheer speed and athleticism gap just jumps off the page.

Women's soccer dad here, checking in with women's basketball being a better product than soccer. The WNT routinely gets destroyed by U15/U16 boys teams. They lost 5-2 to a U15 team from Dallas...not a national team. There are probably not a lot of local 14 year old boys bball teams that could beat the US women's bball team.
