The way BB has been treated by some fans I would not blame him if he left for ND.

How has he been treated?***

Why would you want to lose the best basketball coach Clemson has ever had?

They would not come after a coach who has done well 2 years or so out of 12. Not to flame, just make a point.

Not to mention Brey and ND won an ACC tourney championship in a shorter period of time. They've had a taste of what it is like to be a champion.

I didn’t see where the poster wanted anything to happen.

Just asking a legitimate question.

And are you capable of stopping the childish name calling?

First, I respect Coach Brownell. I don't believe the that Clemson Administration supported him throughout his tenure, compared to how the rest of the ACC coaches have been supported through the years. AD Neff indicated that straight off when he became AD. As a result, he provided Coach Brownell enough funding where he could go after better quality assistants and address other issues that needed funding that would bring us up to the norm of ACC Basketball support.

Therefore, I have always supported Coach Brownell over the years, and am truly thankful his efforts are finally coming to some fruition this year. His biggest weakness is that he really hasn't been able able to recruit to match the rest of the ACC. While some of that is because of Clemson administration non-support over the years, I would agree that recruiting is not one of Coach Brownell's strengths. Overall, he has brought in recruits who are "good" players that he tries to develop, along with a mix of good, experienced transfers who fill a specific need--but top-notch recruits are a rarity in his recruiting classes.

To answer your question (after giving you my reasoning up-front), NO--I don't ever see ND going after a "good" coach like Coach Brownell. They would be going after a coach who has shown great results in recent years! While I deeply respect Coach Brownell's efforts over the years, they don't match what I consider the parameters of what ND would be looking for when they go after a Basketball coach.

In the interim, AD Neff has provided more support to address needed areas of support to Coach Brownell. In the the short term, Coach Brownell has shown good results so far this year. However, Coach Brownell will have to continue to show consistent improvement. Any drop-off and AD Neff will backup his expectations, and move to bring in a new coach that will match those expectations!
