Probably telling recruits who the next OL coach is and smoothing things over.

Not trying to stir the pot, but based on what? I'm sure he's safe until after the bowl game.

WR's open on most plays, QB doesn't make the right read.

QB maturing problem ? OL giving proper time problem ? How is it WR Coach problem ?

He's safe, for now ,being JS doesn't want to coach and TG's recruits.

Those aren't WR coach problems, however, drops, sloppy route running, lazy blocking, and not fighting for balls are.

from what I have seen the WR group can't get open like they use to we don't have speed no elite players at this position we have one coming but that all during champ. years we had 2 to 3 elite WR just my opinion.

offense is screen-heavy and our wideouts don't block.
That seems like something he should get fixed.

Open based on what? Your eagle eye on TV? Sometimes there are receivers open and the QB doesn't see it... that happens in the NFL too, shocking I know, but it happens... there are read progressions... Cade has had time most plays to go thru his reads (to your O-line question)... do you know on any given play what his read progressions are? I can answer that for you, NO. Some bad passes (yea that happens), some drops, some drrops turned into interceptions, some good coverages, some the receiver not beating the defender to the spot... he was every bit as good as DJ ever was and Cade can get out of the pocket and make something happen. You know the all world Gamecock legend Leggit? he was pretty ineffective Saturday... Coleman(FSU) made a some plays but that was not why we lost... we lost on busted blocking by the RB (fumble) and a missed FG (which I will never blame Weitz for)... and lastly you do realize the WR room was decimated by injury... some guys had to step up... true freshman that played 10 snaps all year were on the field Saturday... they honestly looked a little lost.

Why must everyone think they are living room experts...

You don't think the offense was any good... was good enough to win 4 games and beat 2 ranked teams in November and climb back into the top 25... Dabo and Riley will get this straight by next season... the parts are there...

Proud of this team not quitting ... they could have...

Dabo has said himself that Cade needs to calm down(quit throwing to first read),realize that he's not in HS in anymore. So yes, there's maturing needed there. I believe it will happen, not everyone comes in ready like DW4 and TL16, but CK2 still has the chance to finish like them.

As I've stated elsewhere, he didn't get the chance to live with this Playbook his last years of HS and his first year of college. Riley hasn't been here a full year yet.

As for the OL problem, never advocated for Austin being fired, thought he'd come along in time. BUT, the Man in charge, made the decision yesterday that the OL needed a NEW coach, FIRED not parting mutually . This means the OL wasn't doing the job he wants them to do.

Surely you’ve heard others notice this too?

It’s a known thing Cade isn’t processing the game right now, but that’s not because he doesn’t have open options.

Even Walt Deptula, the guy who started the who “separation” bologna has stated the system is creating open options.

Hopefully Cade will calm down and the light will come on.

These are the facts sir.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

LOL...this WR corps is pedestrian at best.....

the WRs as a whole have been pedestrian at best for the last 3 years. Tyler Brown is the BEST WR on the team and even he would be 2nd string on our WRU teams.

We've had a MASSIVE talent and development drop off in the WR room.....no way to excuse that away.

other than bad blocking, inconsistent catching ability, lack fight and ability on 50/50 balls, lack of speed, & inability to take the top off the defense the WRs have been ok.

pedestrian and NOT capable of getting us to "elite"......QB or not.

That's why our record was worse with a "better" QB this year b/c Dabo didn't address the talent/coaching/develepment issues at WR.

Back in Dabo's early years at HC, we had a young WR coach named Jeff Scott. This was Jeff's first job as a college coach. His first year or two, we had limited talent at WR. Our guys dropped passes, could not separate and were not good blockers. Then Nuk and Sammy arrived and all of a sudden Jeff was a superstar. I have no idea if Grisham will eventually be a superstar, but Dabo seems to think he will. We know his position group has been decimated by injuries and a few key misses as guys like Ladson, Williams and Beaux were all highly rated WRs never lived up to their lofty ratings. We also know Clemson was unwilling to play the NIL game and 5* WRs were getting upfront payments from many of the top teams.

While I understand all of that (very well as I worked for the football team my senior year of 08 for Napier and then Scott), the program is in a much better spot than it was when Jeff took over. Jeff didn't have those studs, because we frankly couldn't get that talent level at that time, and it took some years to achieve that. With Grisham, he came in at a time when we had very highly regarded WR's, and I don't know if it was true misses, injuries, or coaching, but it was a very high miss rate with guys like Ladson, Collins, Ngata, and Williams. I worry about the lack of fundamentals that we see. I like Grisham as a person from my time around him when I was in school. I want to see him succeed, just not sure if he's what we need there. We shall see, but I would think the leash is shorter than it's ever been at this point.

I'm going to respectfully disagree. Our WRs don't know how to run effective routes, position themselves to make contested catches, or block. We have to be one of the worst WR blocking teams in the P5 honestly. Those are all things that are supposed to be coached.

Unfortanetly that's a bad sign that's he gonig to hang around alil longer. Could be to make sure we keep Wesco and Moore as well...IDK. It's more so the coaching and getting the best out of the players than it is recruiting for Grisham.

To play devils advocate, he's in year 4, how many WR's has he put in the league? Are those guys coming to play for Grisham, or they want to play in Riley's offense because they see what he did with Johnston?

Ladson (Miami - Portal), Spector, Ngata (NFL - ?), Kendrick (moved to DB the GA), Ajou Ajou (Portal) and EJ Williams (Portal) were the last WR's that Jeff Scott recruited. Grisham has recruited Beaux Collins, Dacari Collins (miss - NCST), Troy Stellato, Will Taylor (Baseball), Randall, A. Williams, C Turner, Tyler Brown, Noble J and Hanafin. Now Wesco and Moore. The majority of these guys that Grisham has recruited have done pretty well - When healthy. Maybe we should look at the training staff as well as the strength & conditioning staff. Let's face it, the last 2 classes by Jeff Scott were huge misses. I would not dump everything on Grisham. Am I totally sold on him? No, but willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Our D is good because of our DL and that makes the LB's and DB's look good. Our OL has been terrible - period!

Would those classes have been missed if they were being coached by Jeff Scott? I’m not so sure we can put everything on the player for being a “bust”.

Both Collins were JS. They committed prior to Grisham

getting the job. Decari was in September of Jeff’s last year at Clemson. Stellato and Taylor were probably identified and recruited by Scott - most recruiting identification is long in advance. Stellato and Taylor committed in the summer before Grisham’s first seaso coaching. I like the 2 classes that are truly TGs and the guys he has committed. Williams and Brown look really good. Turner showed wheels and finished strong last year. Randall started to come on a little at the end playing with 1 hand. I think a couple of the RS will pan out and the 2 recruits look better than what we’ve had. WR seems to be headed back in the right direction. More concerned about other positions.

I'm also wondering if Riley is actually stepping in here. Maybe he feels like he can develop Grish as a coach and wants to give him another year in the new system, get everyone healthy, mentor the two new recruits he helped to bring in, etc.

It just feels like they are willing to give it a little more time.
