Ole Miss got 6 of the top 50 portal transfers according to this service.

Other notables are: Clemson (0), UGA (1), and OK (1), Alabama (1), Ohio State (0), and Michigan (0).

So Oregon got 2 top 10 QBs???? How is that going to work? And why would one of them commit if the other one had already committed? Just seems stupid

They are supposedly thinking about redshirting Moore. He is just a freshman at the moment. Gabriel just has one year left.

Really does seem stupid.***

What about when we signed Trevor Lawrence after signing Hunter Johnson & Chace Brice in the same class?

Was it stupid when we took the best options available?

They are going to redshirt Moore while he develops under Gabrile for a year. Seems pretty well thought out if you ask me...

What this tells me is that the big programs aren't taking a lot of portal...

Ole Miss, be curious to see how they do next year. They were pretty good this year.

Kiffin has always done well in the portal. OM has figured NIL out and that is really the key. They were able to retain their core guys and upgrade talent particularly on defense through the portal. They also signed a pretty decent high school class. The Georgia game really showed them how far behind they were in talent, particularly on defense. The portal helped the address a lot of that - on paper.

The thing is - there is a reason why guys are in the portal so there is always a risk there. It will be interesting to see how this plays long term. Will teams like Georgia and Bama be able to continue to stack 5 star high school talent and keep them around for 4 or 5 years or will those guys start jumping in the portal if they don’t play right away? If so, programs like OM, Missouri, etc. can really capitalize on that talent since they have NIL dialed. The formula seems to be sign smaller high school classes with play-right-away talent, pluck a few high priced portal guys from major programs to fill holes, and supplement with G5 developmental guys from the portal who have been in a college program for a few years using the G5 as a de-facto farm or developmental league. College football is changing and it will be fascinating to see its evolution for better or worse.

I agree, I think it will be really interesting for sure.

FSU did great with the portal for their run this year.

I, for one, think college football has passed us by. Its turning into semi-pro really quick which I don't care for.

I don't know that we'll get it back either...***
