Recruiting This Week PT: 4:

May 22, 2021, 8:24 PM

Just some small nuggets of info for your Saturday night.

-2 class of 23" TEs have locked in visits to Clemson in June.

-1st 4* Tenn TE Ty Lockwood will be at Clemson on June 5th. All of the Bog Ten schools, Penn State, OSU, and Michigan will draw visits as Lockwood is originally from that area.

-2nd is 4* Mn TE Jaxon Howard will be at Clemson June 12th, as I have already slated. Howard may have more visits than other recruit, as his June is full of visits.

-Another recruit that has been in contact with new TE coach Tony Elliot is 4* Mo TE Mac Markway. He has visits planned to OSU, Bama, LSU, and ND already.

-The two remaining TE targets for this class are Jaleel Skinner and Oscar Delp.

-On Delp I have painted UGA as the leader because of connections on his 7v7 team and his relationship with QB commit Gunner Stockton; however, Clemson has some connections as well as his uncle played for Clemson and was roommates with Streeter. He has a visit scheduled to Clemson on June 3rd, while he will also visit UGA that week, before going to Florida and U of SC, who also has some cootnections.

-Skinner is a much harder recruit to read. A couple of months ago Skinner made news in an interview stating that Florida was his leader, selling him on the Kyle Pitts role. However, around a month ago I stated that FSU was the flavor of the month for Skinner, and I would still say that they could very well be the leader, and he has a visit scheduled there in the first week in June. I am going to say now what I said then, Clemson can be as involved as they want IMO. This is a recruitment that is going to have ups and downs and new favorites each month, just with the nature of the recruit. He does not yet have a visit scheduled to Clemson, and he can not make the Elite Retreat because of a conflict, but the staff would still like him to make a visit in June.

-I have spoken at length about Clemson's situation at WR, but another name to add to the list is WR Jayden Gibson, he will camp at Clemson some time in early June in the hopes of securing an offer.

-The state of Alabama is loaded in the 23' cycle and one of the best in the state will visit Clemson in June. DE Keldric Faulk will visit Clemson on June 6th. Bama will be his final visit with Auburn, LSU, UGA, ND, and a few others set to get visits.

-The top WR for the class of 23", Brandon Inniss, has set up three camp dates to UGA, OU, and Miami. I see him making his way out to Clemson, OSU, and Bama, besides the ones already mentioned. OU will be tough to beat here, but Clemson will be involved along with all the other big boys, and should get their chance to land the talented Fl WR.

-I will break this info here that CB Nikai Martinez plans to be at Clemson on June 4th, according to recent info. Martinez has previously visited Clemson and ND in March, U of SC has also stepped up communication. I would not paint him as being a top target, but rather Clemson keeping all options open.

-Tackett Curtis is the #4 OLB in the class of 23" and he will be at Clemson on June 11th. He is from Louisiana, so guys out of that state are always a tough pull.

-Good luck to our lady Tigers tomorrow and have a great rest of the week Tigernation!!!

I can't wait until close to mid June. Hopefully to hear more leans to Clemson and a couple commitments to settle my nerves a bit.
Seems like most are an Ohio State, OU and Ga. lean. And we know Bama will get there's sooner or later. But on the other hand, Dabo will pull out a top 10 class one way or another.

Yeah I think that it is fair. Clemson will get most of their top targets on campus and that should help. OSU and UGA are definitely off to good starts, but this is what we have been waiting on. The chance for these kids to really see what Clemson is about. You are right about Bama, they are going to make a late push this cycle just like they did last, will most likely end up top 2 and I think Clemson ends up top 5 or 6, with a top 3 average player rating.

Those numbers work for me.

Yeah Clemson will have a hard time getting the #1 spot just because they do not take as many players, but next class should be a much bigger class and they are involved with a lot of the best recruits, so I would think that they could compete for a top class.

Seems the TE position hasn’t really been exemplified since Dwayne Allen was there. Knowing Dabo he probably just wants to keep them away from Ohio State or Notre Dame (potential playoff opponents). Hard position to sell when you have four NFL wide receivers and other dynamic play makers.

I will agree that the past two years the TEs have not been used as much as some believe they should, but I think that you can look at a guy like Leggett as proof that Clemson will throw to TE. Moreover, I think that Tony moving to their position coach will only further cement their place in the offense as receiving threats.

-Do not forget that Clemson picked up the #1 TE in the country last year in Jake Briningstool, and he is by far the best pure receiving threat that we have brought in at that position, he just obviously has to add weight so that he can block effectively.

Yep I think that Clemson gets back to something more like that this year, in terms of using the tight ends.
