Interesting. I grew up on the banks of the Edisto in Orangeburg in the '50s and '60s and ate plenty hushpuppies, but never heard them called "Red Horse Bread".

So did I, except I was on the Bamberg side. My daddy always called them RED horse Bread.

That is interesting. I too ate hushpuppies on the banks of the Edisto many years ago.

I never heard the term red horse bread, but my Grandaddy sometimes just called it "bread."

I would have guessed the term and the stuff itself was older than that article suggests.
