Spent Thanksgiving up in Virginia - Roanoke, not far from Va Tech - and we always do this hike, up to McAfees Knob on the Appalachian Trail. Eight miles round trip, 1800' of elevation gain, but well worth it for the views!

We did Dragon's Tooth this past weekend, too, on Saturday. Shorter, steeper hike, and the views aren't as good, but the hike is a lot more fun with all the rock scrambling.

People are always so nice on the trail. Saw lots of VaTech folks, some UVa, a Penn St and Michigan, and an NC State. There's always good natured ribbing with each other, but always keeping it fun.
