Sad. Americans don't understand we're not a democracy

I have little faith in democracy. I have full faith in a properly run democratic republic though.
This is why we desperately need an Article V convention of the states. And few Americans even know about this alternative, which was put in the Constitution to KEEP us from becoming a true democracy. It has a purpose today, and when created. And it's never been used. And if mentioned, is shot down summarily, in a bipartisan manner, by those in power who have been enjoying that power and enriching themselves for decades.

by term limits.
The Swamp tries to argue that only a select handful are qualified to be a member of Congress ... and that the US would spiral out of control if these select handful aren't reelected over and over.
That's bullcrap on a stick. It's all about $$$.

Bingo. Term limits and a balanced budget amendment

Only.
The way this is defeated every time it's proposed is by making a huge list of Amendments. Those against the process foul it up this way.... Every time it's tried.
There is support today for term limits. And a balanced budget. Any one of those two has the votes. You only need 35 states. 75-80% favor term limits. Same for a balanced budget. Could have been done a decade ago.
Instead, violence and Civil War is suggested before this is ever even tried. That's the sad part. Those who support violence do so only because they're ignorant of the constitutional solution.

And bans on dark money. We need to know who got our politicians elected - in other words, who are they actually working for? Then they should almost literally have to wear those badges on their suits like NASCAR drivers.
Citizens United turned the US from a somewhat erratic "democratic republic" to an oligarchy ruled almost directly by moneyed interests. With one decision made by five people, at least three of whom we know were receiving extravagant gifts and bennies from those same billionaire oligarchs, even going so far as to hang out with them on their private yachts. They weren't just bought, they were outright flouting it...because they knew they couldn't be touched.
And few people even noticed.

Or decreases a lot. Either way hard to invest heavily in a politician for a few years.

The bigger thing to me is 41% of dems believe violence is ok along with 38% of Republicans who believe it.
Looks like neither side can claim its only the other side wanting violence.

Trump as an outsider had a grand opportunity to use the bully pulpit to advocate for term limits. He certainly didn't care about balancing the budget.
Had he hammered away at the political class at every opportunity, it's possible that term limits could have happened.
That was a huge missed opportunity. It's highly doubtful that a political insider will push an idea like term limits that is appealing across the entire political spectrum.
Eventually a grass roots movement may make this a reality, but I'm not holding my breath.

What's the purpose of amending the constitution?
Republican and Democratic presidents have ignored it and abused it for years
And the judicial branch (federal circuit and appellate courts) is packed with a bunch of total raging liberals that get up every morning and #### on it before they go in to “work”

It's a true 'democratic' process that no one can deny. It would apply to all, so no partisan BS would be at play.
