SEC Cheerleading comes to the United Kingdom

Jul 16, 2019, 6:42 PM

Here in the UK, we have been well served with NFL news and coverage for decades, but the College game has been less well covered. In recent years, we've started to get live College games being shown, but no analysis or preview programmes. Hence I was excited to see a new programme on my satellite tv package, called College Football Live, which claimed to be an in depth look at the upcoming College season.

Foolishly, I allowed myself to hope, but upon tuning into the programme today, I was met with a SEC lovefest. Joey Galloway, Greg McElroy and Laura Rutledge talking SEC for 30 minutes; featuring an interview with Jake Fromm, a press conference from Kirby Smart (who certainly didn't live up to his surname), and other Dawg related fluff. Even when they stopped talking about Georgia, it was to compare them to Alabama.

I hope that eventually they'll get around to chatting about Clemson, but I have my doubts, and fear that the SEC obsessed media have just found themselves a new audience to bore with coverage of second rate programmes, whilst showing a high level of self delusion.
