in a car accident. She wanted me to go check on her because my brother could not get there.
He couldn't get there because he was in a minor accident at the EXACT same time.
Super thankful, she isn't badly hurt. She was coming down the highway about 60 mph and a car tried to cross right in front of her. She t-bones a minivan, all the airbags deployed. She is sore from the collision / airbags / seatbelt but fortunately nothing is broken. She's driving a 2016 Highlander...it looks like she or the car was able to slow down before impact lessening the damage. I would assume it has collision avoidance? Or maybe she was good to hit the breaks quickly, idk.
My brother, unaware of his wife's accident, is about to pull out of a business and someone backed into his pickup. Minor damage, maybe $1,500?
Craziness, but glad they are ok. She's going to be sore. She went to the hospital to get checked out and mainly just bruised up.
So, I guess if you have a Highlander (I know some of you do)....it kept my SIL safe yesterday.

but anti-lock or whatever barely saved him. There was construction and it went down to one lane with little warning. I'm almost stopped behind a truck and a whole line of cars came up from behind me fast, then the front car slams on the brakes. Tires are squealing, it goes into the other lane then back across our lane and off the road then back across again and finally screeches to a halt just behind me. I'm watching this all in my rearview and have a tight grip on the wheel and the seat. A few cars back from there ends up off the road, but no collision that I could see.
Car tech saved my bacon for sure.

So the Platinum has braking if it detects a potential collision, the other versions just have improved braking if you hit it hard in an emergency. (TWSS)

Glad they're OK, and they should go buy lottery tickets, or stop driving altogether, I'm not really sure which direction to go here.
