I got mine specifically so it would shatter so my finger wouldn't get ripped off.
When we got married, I was doing a lot of conveyor and equipment commissioning. If my ring got caught in a gear, with a gold ring, it'd just smash and rip my finger off. Tungsten is more brittle so it'd shatter, potentially saving my finger.

but my Clemson class ring is in two pieces right now. Slammed it down on the bartop several years ago after we scored a touchdown when Clemson was playing FSU on a Thursday night (8 years ago?) and a small chunk broke out of it. Weird as hail, but it happened.

Bought a pack of el cheapos off the Zon kept them in my toolbox and swap out if needed
I’ve been through 3 metal ones including a time I almost lost my finger.
Have a titanium one now, it will break before it bends. It was $35 at Zales

except I quite wearing both of them about 10 years ago. At some point they became more of a PIA to deal with when I was working on stuff and keeping up with them, and I just kinda stopped wearing them. I'm not real sure where they right now.
