how do the colleges get the NFL/NBA/MLB to pay the colleges for operating these farm clubs? Do the 3 pro. leagues all pay a yearly fee (millions of dollars) into a fund, and the fund is then distributed to the colleges based on the number of players selected by the pro. teams as well as including any "walk ons' or whatever they are called, to pro teams. Say, 20 million per player for first round draft picks and 10 million per drafted player and walk ons in all other rounds? And then the NIL rules are changed to allow colleges to pay NIL money to players with a salary cap on how much each college team can pay?
Bottom line, college's three major sports must align with the pro leagues if they are to survive.

What you're talking about will cause the college system of educating young people to collapse!!! The college campus is the wrong place to govern simi pro sports!!!
Take for instance the kids that are struggling to pay their way through collage. Right there on campus you have 3 simi pro sports team with those college athletes making more money than most parents make trying to send their kids to college and with the kid working to help pay those bills. Can you imagine how high the crime right there on college campus would go up from the shootings, killings and robberies? Simi pro sports don't belong anywhere close to a college. And with the NIL money that these teenagers are getting while playing college ball should be stopped in it's tracks even if colleges has to remove all sports programs from their campuses PERIOD!!!!

Most of them aren't even there for the education, it's for the money and it must be stopped sooner and not later!!!

I hear what you're saying, but the "problem" with that is MLB and to some extent the NBA already have those systems in place. If you're that good you can go straight into a MLB farm system without ever going to college. If you're that good at basketball, you can go into the G-League or to Europe and play. Look at the NBA draft, a LOT of players are coming from Europe.
Football has no farm system. College football CAN be that if you so choose. But it's really the players choice and to a larger extent (at least responsibility wise) the schools choice. When my son was playing high school football he was told that only 2% of high school athletes have a future career in sports. That's ANY career, not just as a pro baller. Not to be the killer of dreams here, but all these "problems" with college football can be laid at the feet of player and the school. You can blame the greed of the networks or the shoe companies, but they're just taking advantage of system as it exists today.
Just on the sheer numbers alone, these kids need to be confronted with the reality that they're probably not going to be playing at the professional level. And it's the schools responsibility to prepare them for that and not just use them up as long as they're healthy and have eligibility. And please don't tell me that's the purpose of NIL. That is still another way of exploiting these people until they are no longer of any use. It just defers they're problem for another day. Which is they are done with the sport, are poorly educated and left with nothing but the glory days.

Thank you for a good response. I agree with the premise. Regarding the NBA and MLB, I am aware of what you stated re. their "farm" system. However, many players for both leagues still come from the colleges, so maybe it would be less costly to the leagues to just do away with their farm system and let the colleges be the farm system.
NIL has changed the landscape and I think the college players are going to soon unionize much the same as the pros have unionized and it's going to be pay to play. Make the players employees of college teams and have them focus on playing, the same as they would do if they went straight into a pro. farm system.
Maybe the SI article regarding the colleges monetizing their football team sports program to the pros. will be the way to go. But one thing for certain, it will never be the same. Money is the driver. Someone is going to find a way to capture it.
