Men at 25 play football. Men at 40 play tennis. Men at 60 play golf. Have you noticed as men get older their balls get smaller.

Yep, they’d join for free for at least 7 years. Their boosters, and they have boosters with very deep pockets, would make up the difference. They’ve been trying to get in a Power 5 Conference since getting the death penalty for cheating (buying players). They helped write the book on cheating but everything is legal now. It’s coming, they’ll join with the other two left coast teams.

They currently have a 32,000 seat stadium. It would be such an embarrassing move to add them. Cal and Stanford make more sense, even though we would all hate that as well.

The death penalty imposed on that program set it back to depths that have still not been restored. Not sure the NCAA would ever impose that type of penalty again.

Wake seats 31K, Duke 40K and BC 44K. GT, Miami and UVA seat more but have half empty stadiums for most games. So how is adding SMU embarrassing? Assuming it is a full stadium and a good environment, I would prefer a small stadium experience over a Billy Brice or UGA where the fans are out of control.

Adding another bottom feeder to the conference is embarrassing. It would be the equivalent on the SEC getting another Vandy. Or the Big 10 getting another Northwestern.

It's finest on the national level. You can attend Furman or Citadel games if you like what we mostly get in the ACC: only lukewarm college football fans buying a ticket because it ain't basketball season. It's pretty sorry as far as GameDay environments. But, hey to each his own.

Would we say that Oregon has a rabid fan base?

I would say they are a top 15 fan base in the Country and yet Autzen stadium holds a mere 54,000. Size of stadium does not matter.

True, but I would not mind the ACC having a footprint in Texas. Could also assist us with recruiting.

Agreed. SMU and maybe a Memphis expansion and keep it in the South. Would not hurt football recruiting being in Texas and Tennessee that's for sure.

SMU is currently doing a pretty nice expansion to the stadium.

Memphis, if we want to totally throw out academic credibility. According to US News, it's a full 80 slots lower than Louisville (#263 v. #182; CU is #77). Miss. St. (#194) is the lowest-ranked in the SEC.

A bridge too far, IMO.

We already have a foot print in Texas and a Paw print. Klubnik
came to Clemson...Our OC coached there. What more could you ask
for? Our best prints are in Ga.

And you can guarantee that this clown conference would make Clemson go down there to open the season as SMU's first opponent in the ACC. They've had us kick off our season in prime time with GT and Duke these past two years as if it's Clemson's job to elevate them.

You realize ESPN is the one setting these matchups, not the ACC?

Re: SMU

No. ESPN has input, but the conference sets the schedule. You would not see Georgia or Bama opening up on the road at Vandy on a Monday night in prime time.

My observation is SMU has more attendees in the stands than Cal and maybe Stanford.

How does Cal and Stanford make more sense? This was last year the week after beating Notre Dame.

Clemson doesn't care about basketball....as evidenced by Brown-L getting 14 years.

I don't have a problem adding SMU to the ACC, too bad other Texas teams are not available to include in the expansion.
