So, the Covid numbers increase based on this...

A family member, who has been sick since Christmas, has been tested twice for Covid and Flu. She was negative on all tests, with one of the Covid test a PCR test and the other Rapid at clinic. After two visits to the Dr and several OTC and prescription meds, she started having dizzy spells. Primary care Dr performed Virtual Visit yesterday. Diagnosing her with dehydration and then telling her regardless what the test results were, the Dr said she's convinced my family member had Covid. I asked my family member to check her MyChart and see what the diagnosis was. As expected, with no proof and only assumptions, the diagnosis was Covid related. $$$

A lot of people don't test positive.

My entire house has had it. We all got sick with a pretty decent cold. I say cold because I tested negative. Then we had Christmas. 16 out of 16 people also got colds. Same cold.

I tested negative before Christmas. Home test. Wife tested positive. Then 4yo tested positive. Then 7yo. I tested 5 times at home, and had 2 PCR tests. All negative. Now we all had the same thing.

Extended family from Christmas all got the same cold too. Wife's sister, nieces and nephew... All tested positive. SIL never tested positive. My mother got it. Tested 3 times. 2 at home and one PCR. All negative.

The doctor is probably right.

or maybe it's just a cold, and PCR tests are BS***

Well for 3 of 5 and 7 of 16 it was covid.

The rest didn't test and assumed it was, or tested negative.

Part of the problem is Americans don't swab the throat. Rest of the world does. Doing that catches 20% more cases. Would have probably saved 16 people from getting it over the Christmas dinner table. Saliva tests are the most accurate with Omicron btw.

I know several (maybe 5 or 6) people in my friend group that have covid. None have been tested.

They just deal with the symptoms and quarantine. Why bother getting tested if you know what it is?

I'm talking 10+ days of symptoms....fever, chills, body aches, respiratory infections, etc.

Data is skewed on all sides. Probably levels out.

Don't get a test

Unsourced data from the LA Times (Gavin Newsom I guess), so take that FWIW, but......

"Data show that 4.5% of those who are infected with the Omicron variant are hospitalized, Newsom said Monday. That’s better than past surges: L.A. County estimated that during last year’s peak, 15% to 20% of coronavirus cases led to hospitalizations, and during the summer Delta wave, 5% to 6% of infections resulted in hospitalizations."

Seems in line with 25% less severe I've heard. I've heard 30% and 40% as well. Good news. But if you have 200/300/400% more cases, BAD news.

I have a great idea for the hospitals experiencing severe staff shortages and burnout. Let’s fire all the workers who have natural immunity! Yeah that should help.
