It is convenient that you took the one metric which supports your narrative. Was OP successful by getting to the dance several years but always losing the first game even as a favorite? By any reasonable metric, he has not messed anything up as he has outperformed our history and is very close to the success of any coach at CU based on winning percentage.

It is not unusual for a team (football or basketball) to underperform when overlooked for a big bowl or the dance. Taking that one issue and overlooking 23 wins and a 3rd place conference finish (tied for highest in our history) seems narrative driven at best.

A) It wasn't a one-off loss to a FAR lower ranked team (Louisville, SCAR, Loyola-Chicago).
B) If they were snubbed, a more positive reaction would be "let's win the NIT to at least prove they were wrong to snub us"; a "boo hoo they snubbed us, let's fold up the tent" response is pretty lame
C) We won the ACC regular season in 1989, so coming in tied for third seems to not be "highest in our history"

I don’t think you care so much for football either. Just scrolled your activity for the last month. The majority of your posts are basically personal attacks on folks who have offended your sensibility by disapproving of Brad Brownell. You don’t ever actually discuss any technical merits of the criticism, discuss basketball performance itself, or Brownell’s accomplishment. Just pure venom for anyone who has spoken ill of him. Conversely, in that time, there is not a single criticism of any poster for their comments about Dabo. NOT. A. SINGLE. ONE. Not when they attack his character. Not when they attack his religion. Not when they attack his family. NOT. ONE. The only post that you have made remotely supportive, in any way, about football in that time is the backhanded “I didn’t expect us to win the last 4 but I didn’t expect to lose 4 of the first 8”. But just cause I don't have season tickets doesn't mean that I, and my family, don't support Clemson. I'm also the trustee of a planned gift. Do you have like a 500 Lexile score? I didn’t say you said those things. I questioned why you haveno objection to those kind of statements? You give lots of TUs to people who trash Dabo but have blood feuds (that’s hyperbole - before you claim you have no blood feuds and I am therefore a liar) with anyone that thinks we might could possibly do better than 3 NCAA tourneys every 13 years.

I added “or” into the reply to help your limited reading capacity. It is absolutely there. Originally I wrote “ Is there a reason it doesn’t bother you when people say that kind of stuff”. Note it says “when PEOPLE say that kind of stuff”. That kind of stuff refers to the preceding sentence. And the second sentence differentiates “you” from those “people”. It was an opportunity for you to explain what appears to be blatant hypocrisy on your side. But you’d rather debate the minutiae of words - poorly. You latch on to the first “gotcha” you think you find and pound it to death because you have no actual point.

Last night they were 10 % points over their yearly 3-point FG%, and 10 % points over where they can expect to be at the end of the year.
Bama on the other hand was 12 % points under their YTD 3-point FG%.
Guess why we won? We made more shots than we normally do. Plain and simple.
You can call that "good defense", or you can just say it was "our night".
People who have seen Brownell coach for 13 years have no delusions here. It's a team with opportunity. Brownell has had multiple teams with "opportunity".

Ten guys getting double digit minutes, with nine finding the scoring column, is pretty impressive against a quality team like Alabama. That depth will certainly help us over a long season.

This is the team that Brownell has to take to the tourney and probably to the round of 32 for casual fans to get back into basketball.
The Clemson fan base has a pretty low bar for success in Basketball compared to not just Football but Baseball, Mens and Womens Soccer, Mens and Womens Golf.
This is the year that Basketball needs to exceed those low expectations to balance out the recent years where they were not met. This team has the capability to exceed expectations and most of us are pulling for them to do it.

This is a very good Basketball team ,and they seem to play well with each other. But after watching the game at Alabama and watching the officiating something needs to be done about the officials calling a fair game. My calculation is Clemson would have won by at least 15 points if not for the terrible one sided foul calling. What worries me is wait till we play the Duke and NC teams, and how many of our players spend more time on the bench than on the court. When the announcers are asking where the foul was on TV, then maybe the people in charge need to hold the referees more accountable. Last night was the worst home cooking referee job I have seen in my lifetime.

My advice with any Clemson coach and Tiger Basketball would be “enjoy the ride, but don’t get ahead of yourself.” It’s a long season and I’m cautiously optimistic.
