CLEMSON, S.C. -- (release) The No. 2 Clemson men's soccer team travels to Greensboro, N.C. Tuesday night to take on the UNCG Spartans. Kickoff for the match is at 7 p.m. and the battle between ACC foes will be broadcast on ACCNX.
Clemson will look to continue its run of form, as the Tigers have started the season 7-0, outscoring their opponents 25-1 across the seven matches. That's good for the best goal differential in the nation. The last time the Tigers opened a season 7-0 was in 2019, when Clemson went eight consecutive matches before dropping a result. The last time Clemson opened the season allowing just one goal through its first seven games was in 1983.
Tuesday marks the 11th all-time meeting between this pair, with Clemson sporting a 8-2 advantage thus far. The Tigers have outscored the Spartans 20-8 all-time and have won each of the last three matches between the teams.
Starting in net for Clemson will be goalkeeper George Marks, who, with a clean sheet, would move into a tie for fourth on Clemson's all-time solo shutout leaderboard. The offense has been led by junior forwards Isaiah Reid and Mohamed Seye, whose 12 and 10 points, respectively, are first and second on the team.
The Tigers look good so far this year. Coach Noonan, Jones and Rodriguez have the players running hard putting pressure on every opportunity. George Marks in goal has been superb in directing the defense and blocking some unbelieveable shots.
And yes, UNCG is not in the ACC but has a solid squad to compete in any league.
